Wrong on so many levels. I've had albums that have taken me years to fully appreciate (predominantly jazz records admittedly).

I'd rather have a record I'm still getting to know and getting stuff from after 20 listens than one I'm done with after 20 listens.

Difficult to listen to any of the tracks out of context. Have to listen to this as one long piece or at least broken out into chunks.

Geogaddi sounds like a different album on vinyl. Good god! Sounds I hadn't noticed before and the warmth and bass is next level.

Yeah! I just dloaded Random 35 Tracks Tape/ripped it to my phone today (thanks to epicharmus) and it's amazing stuff, obv around 2004 they were working w electric guitar but I never expected anything as psych/whatever as this

i know what you mean though, won't seem real until the cover is spray-painted on a rock in some desert somewhere and the co-ordinates broadcast using teletext during the next full moon.

Responding to popular demand, Warp Records is repressing its seminal Boards of Canada catalogue on vinyl for the first time in over five years.

On 21st October the albums Music Has The Right To Children (originally released in 1998), Geogaddi (2002) and The Campfire Headphase (2006) will be reissued. These will be followed on 18th November by the mini-album Twoism (1995) and EPs In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country (2000) and Trans Canada Highway (2006).

Also, look out for a vinyl reissue of Hi Scores EP (1996) through Skam later this year.

just occurred to me that I've always thought of their albums like this:

MHTRTC: Sky
Geogaddi: Core
Campfire: Sea
Tomorrow: City

That's probably abetted by their album covers, but that's always how I've heard them.

Campfire esp. Dayvan Cowboy has always been about outer space for me, that must have to do with the video but it rings very true even without watching it.

For me it's

Mhtrtc: forests, fog
Geogaddi: sunny, cold, maritime

Trans-Canada Highway: highway driving
A Beautiful Place in the Country: beautiful places in the country
