Saturday in the dance field at Glastonbury, across two adjacent stages - AlunaGeorge -> Bashmore -> Mistajam -> Rudimental -> Disclosure -> Maceo Plex -> Hot Natured. It's like they read this thread while programming it.

They have historically been terrible at filling those stages, it's usually a Fatboy Slim/Carl Cox back to back preceded by I dunno Talib Kweli or someone.

Lulu James's "Closer" is so good and I don't know how I miss it the first time around. It's not that subtle.

err...slightly spammy and tangential to this thread, but this is a sort of follow up to the house pop mix (i.e., lots of black butter but the much harder and bassier stuff mixed with garage).

Not really feeling that Ill Blu but I'm putting that down to the vocals rather than the groove. It's still a good look for them, I keep forgetting that before all the storming beat-em-up soundtracks they could put out a tune like 'Say Yes'.

The Riton/Meleka tune is terrific though.

song is pretty pro forma & not very inspired but 50k plays in one day? i think they're supposed to be nsync to disclosure's bsb or whatever the appropriate british analogy is

"gold" got a lot of radio play and wound up in a lot of mixes but i don't know much about them beyond that. it's a sort of balearic bubbler i guess? not sure i hear the disclosure comparison beyond the fact that they also look about 12 years old to this fogey

i still think of t.e.e.d as the nsync (although maybe they missed the boat?), bondax are more like idk, o-town

you know what i think it is about that (otherwise a+++ excellent) kidnap kid tune, the way he cuts in the vocal sample on that intro is so paul poli that i automatically experience a lingering trace of pavlovian disappointment when the ware-alike comes in and happens to not be teedra

kidnap kid's delicate sensibility does not scan like that of a uk dance producer/listener at all really, it's kinda miraculous. let alone a former dnb raver

Kidnap Kid tune is amazing, and yeah Paul Poli is spot on, surely Teedra (aka uk house and funky diva of choice) is in fact available to help out here.

I've taken to playing "Animaux" rather a lot in the car, mainly so I can sing along to "DREAMER".

i love the new duke dumont and lulu james singles - interesting how both have gone for an opulent emotive house diva look this time round in contrast to the slightly staccato hooks of their breakthroughs

i like kidnap kid but am finding his stuff a bit too easy to stop paying attention to halfway through. clean bandit not quite doing it for me either.
