xp holy shit ian it is awesome. im sure youve heard some of the stuff before, but strangely, i hadnt? all my NC friends rep really hard for flynt, and i always meant to check him out, but never got around to it. moe handy played me some of it the other day, and i was like oh whoa ok.

i have a couple of flynt LPs ("back porch hillbilly blues" and "raga electric") and i used to listen to the "you are my everlovin'" CD endlessly back in those old days.. i don't think i ever heard the graduation CD. but with an LP issue, i am so tempted. are we talking kosmische fiddle ragas, here? or a velvetsier sound?

first track is straight grateful dead. the rest is the twisted fiddle shit a la back porch hillbilly iirc.

right now listening to some esther phillips that doesn't seem to exist on the internet. 1975, self titled. nashville label called gusto records inc, with a lightning bolt stamp that says POWER PAK.

Only Flynt I have is Nova'billy iirc. Haven't listened to it in forever.

i wasn't a huge novabilly fan, or the stuff w the insurrections. didn;t hate it, just not as heady/cosmic as my fave flynt stuff... "C Tune" and "You Are My Everlovin"/"Celestial Power" are the peak for me. Droning fiddle ragas.

Uneven, I guess, but I really LOVE some of the songs on here. Last three songs on side 1 are all my jams. I listen to this way more than their first record, "Ring Of Bone." This one has more of a rural rock vibe.
