three years pass...

I'm not sure the whole Ceremony albums works for me at least not on first listen but the track Hosanna was one I really dug. That take to me sounds kind of a similar spirit to some Krautrock, which is ironic as that tune's title was noticed by me thinking of 'Hosanna Mantra' by Popol Vuh.

There is probably a decent c/d thread idea in records by rock/pop bands collaborating with classical orchestras or avant garde composers.

As for that kind of thing, Ceremony didn't catch me as much as John Cale's collaboration with Terry Riley 'Church of Anthrax'. I really, really like that one probably as I just love that repeated melodic mantra of Riley's music. That sound just works for me nearly every time.

Man, I don't know anything about Spooky Tooth, but you could easily play six degrees of Spooky Tooth. They're connected to everything from Foreigner, Humble Pie, Only Ones, ELP, Mott the Hoople, Wings, Pink Floyd ... like, a keystone of '70s rock.

I'm still working through Spooky Tooth's discography myself. I haven't heard the records after they reformed in '73, but I have listened to their first four records and by Spooky Tooth's precursor group Art a couple times each. As for describing their sound, I'd say they are not totally dissimilar to say Traffic or early Savoy Brown, albeit they do have a somber streak in their songs that is different to other blues/psychedelic combos. If you are a deep listener of 70s rock, they are worth giving a listen especially Spooky Two.

Island UK reissued all their albums w/bonus tracks last year.

Yeah, I got that Island Years box set and it looks like it has already gone out of print. It was pretty cheap when it first came out.
