I assume based on the "explicit" warnings on some of the choices that cursing doesn't matter?

some are on albums that are labeled explicit but they song itself isn't

which ones are you referring to DJP? I dunno what warrants an "explicit" tag, my guess is those just get slapped on entire albums, regardless of individual track content

How about subject matter, is that a concern? Because "Sometimes I Rhyme Slow" is a fantastic song with no cursing but the second verse especially may be a little on the sophisticated side for a kid?

hm, kinda letting that slide, doubt my 4 year old could parse that one out

I figure if the kid can decipher enough of the slang to put together what it's about then the kid is old enough to have a conversation with their parents about the content. but obviously that's an individual decision up to each parent.

anyway yeah I'm not screening for content per se, I just don't want my kids to start dropping n-bombs or f-bombs everywhere cuz they heard them in a song. if they hear a song about drug dealing or something else scary or sad then I'll discuss it frankly with them (in terms they can understand), but that's just how I approach it.
