Love these, won't be spending 300 pounds on them though.

i love that print a lot. pleats, tho?

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 6 June 2013 13:10 (ten years ago) link

yeah might look a bit weird on.

they have the same print in a sweat shirt but i already have one crazy print sweatshirt and that's enough.

... (LocalGarda), Thursday, 6 June 2013 13:14 (ten years ago) link

i actually kind of dig pleats on shorts

乒乓, Thursday, 6 June 2013 13:39 (ten years ago) link

i don't think pleats are offensive, but pleats-as-a-concept are kind of in a place where they're either tragically uncool OR super fashion. i think we're overdue for wider, fuller proportions to return to menswear but for now pleated shorts still bring to mind elderly tourists with white socks pulled up.

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 6 June 2013 14:05 (ten years ago) link

when you pleats that sort of flourescent floral print tho, it does look pretty fun

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 6 June 2013 14:06 (ten years ago) link

i think a single pleat can look good on slim-cut pants, shorts, maybe? would fit into the whole cuffing trend

乒乓, Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:23 (ten years ago) link

man theres a disturbing new definition of single pleat out there just fyi http://www.theawl.com/2013/06/incoming-mens-fashion-trend-disaster-the-single-pleated-chino

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:25 (ten years ago) link

this was coming ever since it was cool to dress like chandler from friends circa 1997

savage not getting it on the part of theawl.com there tho, sad eyes

Lamp, Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:36 (ten years ago) link

pleats will come and go, but flat fronts objectively look better

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:38 (ten years ago) link

'objectively'

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:39 (ten years ago) link

yeah pleats are so gross, so are those generously cut billowy style oxfords that Brooks Brothers and the like sell (JUST WEAR SHIT THAT FITS, DUMBY)

walk in the room they throwin Sade left to right (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:40 (ten years ago) link

pleats can be cool but they also can get out of control real fast, sans pleats is def a safer approach

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:41 (ten years ago) link

so i guess leave pleats to the experts is prob the best approach

lag∞n, Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:42 (ten years ago) link

i don't like pleats on regular cotton twill khakis because they just look stiff and wrinkly, but if you're talking about wool suit trousers where the fabric actually has a nice drape then pleats can look great

⚓ (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 6 June 2013 15:45 (ten years ago) link

i have a tweed suit w single pleats and you hardly even notice them especially w the jacket and all

Based on my observations of people hanging out in the sun today, I can report that FUN SHORTS haven't caught on in Cambridge yet. Was tempted to vanguard a pair of these, but the shop didn't have my size:

i was just thinking the other day about ~sept 2000 (when i first got to NYU as an incoming freshman) and all the stylish downtown dudes were wearing capris length pants

lol

patron sailor, Sunday, 30 March 2014 22:43 (ten years ago) link

what i mean is, what can we do to make sure that the man-capris silhouette never comes back into style
