He's a good fit for them

Kinda similar situation to Hibbert's last offseason, totally OK w/ Pacers overpaying him a bit-- would rather overpay hard workers whom you feel good rooting for. Every indication from Indy beat writers is that West is an A+ lockerroom dude. Don't want to see him hulking out for any other teams. Heh, plus it's nice having a vocally liberal person on the team, too.

xps Hibbert will always be big softy. Funnier tweet exchanges this year between him and Lee:

I really don't like @Dlee042 but I really hope he has a speedy recovery. Hate to see guys get get hurt or injured.

@Hoya2aPacer Good to know our dislike is mutual, that being said I appreciate the tweet Roy!

"These are my guys. I can't see myself going anywhere else." -- David West on re-signing with Pacers.

pacers should def bring the band back imo... just adding granger makes them very formidable. if d rose is back healthy to start the season that will be a great battle between those teams.

and now the heat will definitely have to go into the offseason thinking specifically how to counter them

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:15 (ten years ago) link

haha, had that same thought about west's agent, j0rdan.

Clay, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:15 (ten years ago) link

Chuck was great tonight.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:18 (ten years ago) link

he had a killer segment there at the end

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:19 (ten years ago) link

seriously, rewound it back and watched again, had me rolling

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:21 (ten years ago) link

rip pacers, nice run

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:40 (ten years ago) link

what did chuck say

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:40 (ten years ago) link

Huh, weird stat, saw on someone's twitter that Bron or Kobe has been in the finals last seven years w/o playing one another.

i know this is pushing it but i you add dwyane wade and tim duncan to this mix that covers every year back to 1999-- the entire post-jordan era

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 12:24 (ten years ago) link

i mean duh the finals regularly feature one or more of the top 3-5 players in the league but it's remarkable how consistent it is (and we only really need wade in there to bridge the 2006 finals)

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 12:25 (ten years ago) link

i'm also skipping the lebron OR kobe intent of that stat, whoops, that is crazy though

2010 was hilarious because the entire media was like oh boy this is it it's gonna be lebron vs kobe epic showdown and the celtics totally got in the way

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 12:31 (ten years ago) link

it would be kinda fun if in the next couple years prime bron met old kobe in the finals and guarded him and held him to zero points

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 13:01 (ten years ago) link

Would also be a but redundant. I really don't see Kobe coming back from the ACL tear in any kind of winning form.

Studied keyboard mash (tsrobodo), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 13:09 (ten years ago) link

xxp yep as soon as they started airing those Kobe puppet vs. Bron puppet commercials I was rooting for that to get screwed up

frogbs, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 13:12 (ten years ago) link

never forget

Nhex, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 14:08 (ten years ago) link

You could make one of those flopera videos to all of Chalmers flop/flail attempts from last nights game. LOVE that the refs only bit on one of them.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 14:51 (ten years ago) link

refs should seriously be able to give out technicals for flops

k3vin k., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 14:52 (ten years ago) link

That was the only one I saw called

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 14:58 (ten years ago) link

haha

― k3vin k., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 10:52 AM

it rly needs immediate consequences, the day later fines aren't doing anything

joe bogus (am0n), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:03 (ten years ago) link

5 flops in a year should be a suspension, too. up the hurt a bit

k3vin k., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:04 (ten years ago) link

bingo - fines aren't deterring anyone.

frogbs, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:05 (ten years ago) link

they could do video review during timeouts like w borderline three point shots and asess technicals accordingly

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:07 (ten years ago) link

i do however think the complaining abt flops has gotten out of control and is prob in some ways worse than the actual flopping

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:08 (ten years ago) link

ugh no

k3vin k., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:09 (ten years ago) link

yeah dawg think abt it

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:09 (ten years ago) link

Yeah complaining about flopping is kinda fun lagoon, get on board

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:12 (ten years ago) link

the league has made moves in the right direction, yes. But as we saw in the playoffs those moves didn't change anything and you even had two of the best players in the league flat out endorsing it!

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:15 (ten years ago) link

i feel like just the anti flopping scrutiny could have a positive effect, even if it is sort of a bummer

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:18 (ten years ago) link

wtf

frogbs, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:21 (ten years ago) link

its so complainy and overblown, i prefer to enjoy basketball

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:24 (ten years ago) link

i think flopping is awesome, always guaranteed lols

乒乓, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:24 (ten years ago) link

when youre watching the replay in realtime on tv, it's nice being privy to something that the refs got obviously wrong, yer little secret w/ the world

乒乓, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:25 (ten years ago) link

unless it's your team getting the short stick

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:25 (ten years ago) link

ahh yes, all of us who complain about flopping and reffing clearly just don't enjoy basketball :)

frogbs, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:28 (ten years ago) link

it could be you just dont know what enjoyment is?

lag∞n, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:32 (ten years ago) link

i think by the time the sixers get good again the league will have figured out a way to kerb flopping. looking forward to the flop free year of 2027

乒乓, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:33 (ten years ago) link

maybe basketball will evolve to where points are awarded for the best flops

they are either militarists (ugh) or kangaroos (?) (DJP), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:34 (ten years ago) link

it's true, chalmers was out of control last night

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:37 (ten years ago) link

i do think that flopping is not exactly some scourge upon the league, though. it's more hilarious than anything.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:38 (ten years ago) link

nah it can totally change the course of a game and swing momentum.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:39 (ten years ago) link

really the easiest way to deter flopping is for the refs to loosen up what they call and let the teams play. don't be so ticky-tacky on screens and off-ball play.

it's better to not reward flopping in the first place than to reward flopping on the court then try to retroactively punish with a fine.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 4 June 2013 15:39 (ten years ago) link

i do think that the focus on flopping as a topic can deter from great and compelling series such as this one. in the grand scheme it's pretty minor.
