the season doesn't feel "too long" to me, maybe chop a couple weeks off but reduce the games by a proportionally greater amount so there's less bunching of games

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:39 (ten years ago) link

also maybe it's because this years playoffs has seemed historically lame but i'm starting to feel like i like the regular season more than the playoffs anyway

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:41 (ten years ago) link

another reason why you can't shorten it to like 35-40 games is it increases the randomness so much wrt individual stats

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:41 (ten years ago) link

the first week or two are really exciting and good where teams are amped to get started and prove themselves v competition but then theres a really long stretch until around the all star break where a lot of the time is spent going through the motions getting in shape and fending off exhaustion

IMHO

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:43 (ten years ago) link

Yeah imho season length seems fine, but would love for some weird draft spot tweaks / 8th seed play-in or something. Major problem is just the lack of stakes at the end of the season.

IM ME, I DO ME, AND I CHILL (CompuPost), Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:43 (ten years ago) link

having far fewer games would make the regular season less random imho due to more rest/fewer injuries/greater incentive to take every game seriously

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:45 (ten years ago) link

Heh Bosh has looked very Sam Perkins for this whole series.

IM ME, I DO ME, AND I CHILL (CompuPost), Sunday, 2 June 2013 17:46 (ten years ago) link

but the nba is already the least random sport so maybe that wouldnt be such a good thing

I really wonder if they'll get anything with Bargnani, and who gambles on him if he get amnestied.

Matt Armstrong, Sunday, 2 June 2013 18:35 (ten years ago) link

lotsa stuff coming out (some leaks) that Lionel Hollins wasn't exactly well-liked in the locker room. Apparently Z-Bo wasn't the main source of friction tho.

i kinda agree that brons game is often unbeautiful compared to many all timers, but if you think theres nothing to appreciate and enjoy there youre trippin

def enjoy and appreciate LBJ, just feel like he goes into cheat mode, "f this I'm just gonna run at the hoop full speed" when he knows his team needs buckets. at those moments it's boring and 1 dimensional.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:28 (ten years ago) link

like when you're calling the most complete player in the history of the game "boring"

most people are of the mind that Big O was "boring". don't know why you are incapable of separating things here.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:29 (ten years ago) link

youre boring and 1 dimensional

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:30 (ten years ago) link

i wouldn't call lebrons game boring, maybe inelegant

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:31 (ten years ago) link

youre inelegant

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:32 (ten years ago) link

i know :( its one of my biggest flaws

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:32 (ten years ago) link

with the long list of flaws ahead of it, i doubt it'll ever get fixed, sorry bro

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 23:38 (ten years ago) link

sick burn, good one

Heat are +5 for series total. They are -20 with Bosh, LeBron, and Wade together. I think that kind of split is unprecedented for them.

i just finished this game a few hours ago and got dayum

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 02:01 (ten years ago) link

that third quarter like a self-published e-book "how to lose a basketball game in under 12 minutes" by your miami heat esq.

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 02:02 (ten years ago) link

"I am able to replay a lot of plays in my head," James said, and soon he started to list – one by one – the circumstance of every, easy Wade miss on Saturday night. No video clips needed, James remembered them all.

"We can state the obvious: They're both struggling," James said.

im not sure if i recall correctly (lol) but i think larry bird could do this too- or maybe it was magic or maybe both of them- if you describe a game situation to them they will take it from there and tell you where a teammate turned the ball over or whatever

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 02:03 (ten years ago) link

as kerrs been hammering on during the games indys ability force miami to go big is killing their offense, its really the small ball lineups that are transcendent, w two bigs theyre ordinary

― lag∞n, Sunday, June 2, 2013 9:48 AM (12 hours ago) Bookmark

this is killing me, i know birdman was suspended but you can't throw joel anthony out there and expect jack shit, dude is literally made of cobwebs at this point. you won last year going small and letting lebron go ham and have literally said that's the mistake you made in 2011. vogel is totally in control of this series at the mo

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 02:05 (ten years ago) link

sry for excessive "literally"

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 02:05 (ten years ago) link

i wonder how daniel esq is handling this

Clay, Monday, 3 June 2013 02:48 (ten years ago) link

the heat could go small last year cuz roy hibbert was terrible on offense, they really had no choice but to give joel some burn last game

J0rdan S., Monday, 3 June 2013 03:53 (ten years ago) link

the heat can employ no strategy to overcome wade and bosh shooting 1-15 (or whatever) in the east finals

everything else besides that point is just noise

joel played well anyway

J0rdan S., Monday, 3 June 2013 03:54 (ten years ago) link

Yeah wade bosh is really what it boils down to

dunno bout bird or magic but doug collins has freakish bball memory

would just like to note that I never even get into discussions w/dayo but he chirps in w/some personal insult w/o fail eventually. seen pics of dude, you know he wouldn't be flapping his gums at anyone irl, internet was made for guys like you homey.

yeah p much, at one point i looked at that bench and thought there's 34 million dollars' worth of wade and bosh just chilling while joel and mike miller try to spark a comeback, which is totally understandable given how terrible they were but still

hibbert has been huge and george has been very good and really indiana's wins have been when their Medium Five outplays the Big Three in aggregate and everything else on that side is probably just noise too

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 11:30 (ten years ago) link

i do think spoelstra is a really good coach but vogel has been a teensy bit better this series, or at least real close

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Monday, 3 June 2013 11:32 (ten years ago) link

when did we first know wade had a bum knee?

乒乓, Monday, 3 June 2013 11:48 (ten years ago) link

looking at his game log he took two games off in the middle of november and has been pretty erratic since

lag∞n, Monday, 3 June 2013 12:32 (ten years ago) link

wade had a great winter!

k3vin k., Monday, 3 June 2013 12:51 (ten years ago) link

ha sry november is not the month i meant!

lag∞n, Monday, 3 June 2013 12:56 (ten years ago) link

that would be like the entire season

lag∞n, Monday, 3 June 2013 12:56 (ten years ago) link

wade was balky the entire second half. he sat games during the streak, basically didn't play at all once it ended and rested during game 4 of the bucks series.

J0rdan S., Monday, 3 June 2013 13:57 (ten years ago) link

i'd still be a little shocked if the Heat dont win the title.

frogbs, Monday, 3 June 2013 14:07 (ten years ago) link

the new emerging narrative is that heat shouldn't have gone for the streak, #restwade

乒乓, Monday, 3 June 2013 14:08 (ten years ago) link

has the backpedaling on the Heat already begun? wait until and see if actually lose Game 7... (and i hate the Heat)

Nhex, Monday, 3 June 2013 14:10 (ten years ago) link

the way this series has gone the Heat are going to shoot like 65% tonight. how much of this kind of talk did we have last year vs. both this team and the Celts?

frogbs, Monday, 3 June 2013 14:15 (ten years ago) link

i think they'll win tonight

they look really energized in game 5 behind the crowd and remarkably dead in game 6, i'd imagine (and hope) it swings way back the other way in game 7

J0rdan S., Monday, 3 June 2013 14:21 (ten years ago) link

yeah i'm sorry but i do not want to see the pacers in the finals

k3vin k., Monday, 3 June 2013 14:34 (ten years ago) link

xxp that's true, leading up to that monster Lebron game where he took out the Celts by himself there was a lot of choke talk
