one thing to not admit to being a flopper, another thing to say you're too good for it

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:29 (ten years ago) link

just like I don't think a missed layup in the 2nd quarter of a 1 pt loss would've switched a game to a win if it had been made, I don't think Pacers winning gm 1 automatically would've meant they'd have won 4 by now...but damn

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:30 (ten years ago) link

has he been flopping lately, yes. is his complaining about calls annoying, yes. your crusade to make him look like a terrible person and a boring player is ridiculous and belongs on a dumber board

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:31 (ten years ago) link

y'all also forget him totally quitting on his Cavs team against Celts

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:31 (ten years ago) link

yes do go there again

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:32 (ten years ago) link

not terrible, just kinda douchey. and putting your head down and relying on brute strength + tighter rules on D guarding a driver so refs bail you out is kinda boring.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:33 (ten years ago) link

yes do just dismiss that lil episode

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:33 (ten years ago) link

i can acknowledge him being best player on planet, close to best all time and still not be blind to fact he quit in those last few mins. it's ok.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:34 (ten years ago) link

you must watch a lot of NBA, considering lebron is the best passer and ballhandler at his size since magic and was one of the best jumpshooters in the league this year

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:34 (ten years ago) link

still doesn't make his go to move any less boring

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:35 (ten years ago) link

yeah the lefty layup he hit to win game 1 was really lame, too bad we couldn't have had kobe bricking a 25 foot fadeaway

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:37 (ten years ago) link

go post in the espn comments

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:38 (ten years ago) link

man you sure are touchy when someone dares to not join you in polishin bron's nob

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:38 (ten years ago) link

totally not ridiculous to ignore any negative thing about him cuz ur fanboys

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 04:43 (ten years ago) link

same problem I had w/Shaq, esp in his early years. Using is freakish body to pound his way to the hoop, and either get an easy hoop or force the ref to make a call after he initiates contact. Boring to watch and doesn't seem altogether fair.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 05:00 (ten years ago) link

Gonna have to disagree with you Mr. Dainger. Bron 4 prez.

polyphonic, Sunday, 2 June 2013 05:13 (ten years ago) link

I can abide that. The arrogance of "your views aren't good enough for this hallowed board" is just wow, really smellin your own piss aren't ya kev

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 05:35 (ten years ago) link

Yeah thats a bit much but...

LBJ is way more than a bowling ball. I'm not even sure that's his go to move anymore? Especially apparent in this series where Hibbert is owning the paint.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 2 June 2013 06:07 (ten years ago) link

The flopping thing is unfortunate but that's more of a league issue imo. Player's taking advantage is logical.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 2 June 2013 06:08 (ten years ago) link

And watching pee-ons bounce off Shaqs shoulders as he pivoted his way to dunk after dunk was pretty awesome to behold, thinking back on it. More frustrating and annoying was hack a shaq and watching him brick free throws.

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 2 June 2013 06:10 (ten years ago) link

Why do players not talk about their injuries? its weird to me. Just come out and say it! Listen... my knee cap is falling out and Im playing at about 50%. Seems like it would take so much of the pressure off and leave you free to overachieve?

why pee on the beat (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Sunday, 2 June 2013 06:22 (ten years ago) link

INDIANAPOLIS -- Roy Hibbert used a gay slur in one answer and a curse to refer to the media in another during his news conference after Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, putting himself in line for being disciplined by the NBA.

Hibbert ended a response to a question about his defense on LeBron James with "no homo." Hibbert had drawn a key charge on James in Indiana's 91-77 victory against Miami on Saturday and lamented not providing enough help to teammate Paul George on James in Game 3.

Hibbert was later asked why he finished so low in voting for Defensive Player of the Year.

"Y'all m------------- don't watch us play throughout the year to tell you the truth," Hibbert said. "So that's fine. I'm going to be real with you, and I don't care if I get fined. We play and we're not on TV all of the time and reporters are the ones that are voting and it is what it is. And I don't make it, that's fine. I'm still going to do what I have to do."

50k fine?

Granny just wants to see jimmy chitwood chuck it from the nosebleeds for his enjoyment.

a very generous Cordoban (Sufjan Grafton), Sunday, 2 June 2013 06:27 (ten years ago) link

Clyde Drexler was better than Dwyane Wade is, and Otis Thorpe contributed equally as Scottie Pippen (at a completely different position and role, for a couple of years, based upon my own memory of my own at-the-time advanced stats analysis, as the best all-around useful guy)

Otis was dumped for Clyde on the Rockets. The prior Rockets - Knicks finale was the greatest series in NBA history.

I'm only posting this (trolling) because I am old and drunk and have spent an hour reading these arguments.

I'm also annoyed that Lebron could pass Olajuwon in playoff scoring this year, based upon whatever graphic Steve Kerr was talking about.

Spurs - Pacers would be cool for me.

also, because this post will shame me and make me embarrassed to ever post again, I've always liked Battier and Anderson, and been annoyed by Ray Allen and Lebron James.

I don't think I got to see the Pacers play on national TV all year. I sure did get to see the Clippers, Warriors, and Knicks on a weekly basis.

Zachary Taylor, Sunday, 2 June 2013 07:14 (ten years ago) link

also, if we were in a bar and I was listening to strangers talk about basketball, after a while I would interrupt and dispute you, and you would say "Shut up, who are you, and what the hell are you talking about."

I accept this criticism.

Chitwood > Hakeem > LeBron

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Sunday, 2 June 2013 07:51 (ten years ago) link

shaq was physically overpowering but also super skilled, perfect footwork amazing touch, thats what made him so devastating

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:15 (ten years ago) link

bron is similar, its easy to miss how difficult a lot of his finishes are after he bowls his way to the rim because he makes them look so effortless

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:17 (ten years ago) link

woo woow spurs pacers

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:44 (ten years ago) link

i dont think the nba out and out fixes games but maybe they put the pressure on the refs to be more favorable, and if the team they want to win cant win even w favorable calls then welp

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:45 (ten years ago) link

after all the nba is the only major professional sports league in what, the last 50...60...70 years? where a corrupt official was outed

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:45 (ten years ago) link

it also explains why joey crawford still has a job, i.e. he knows where sterns bodies are buried

乒乓, Sunday, 2 June 2013 11:46 (ten years ago) link

joey crawford has a job because the refs have a union

yeah he was so nimble and athletic, especially in his early years. it's just a weird thing to complain about. like when you're calling the most complete player in the history of the game "boring"

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 June 2013 13:38 (ten years ago) link

i kinda agree that brons game is often unbeautiful compared to many all timers, but if you think theres nothing to appreciate and enjoy there youre trippin

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 13:42 (ten years ago) link

and his passing and fast break game is beautiful and fun

as kerrs been hammering on during the games indys ability force miami to go big is killing their offense, its really the small ball lineups that are transcendent, w two bigs theyre ordinary

bron all dribbly dribbly around the perimeter

if miami loses tomorrow and wade has an off season next year and they dont win maybe bron will go back to cleveland :)

lag∞n, Sunday, 2 June 2013 13:52 (ten years ago) link

last night after the game shaq was all 'roy hibbert best big man in the game' and charles looking mad exasperated 'look hibbert is a good player but hes not THAT good'

chuck otm, miamis just go no one who can bother him at all, he looks like hes running drills out there, even when they bring the double team hes just calmly making the right play which is a credit to him, the pacers altogether look so much more comfortable on offense than the first game where it seemed like a miracle when they were scoring good after almost turning the ball over every play
