Low Life is essential for students of Bernard's vocal stylings ("oh HOW I CAN-NOT BEAR the THOOOOOUGHT OF YOOOOO").

just reading that is making my skin crawl

"Sooner Than You Think" is a mad underrated lil narrative.

xp standard bearer for a proud lineage of whoops and oooophs

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:50 (ten years ago) link

(it was after this album that I decided I would never see New Order live because I didn't think I could take Bernard's voice in a live setting)

SOMETIMES IN LIFE YOU TAKE A TUMBLE

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:51 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, Sooner Than You Think never gets enough credit

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:51 (ten years ago) link

Y'all are being way too hard on Bernard's singing!

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:53 (ten years ago) link

ooh!

I'm seeing them for the first time in July, will report back on whether Mr. Sumner is up to the task.

Vinnie, Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:54 (ten years ago) link

Don't let anybody tell you that you're no good, cuz you know they would.

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:54 (ten years ago) link

Imagining what a masterpiece Shannon would have made of "This Time of Night" is a fruitless exercise.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 18:54 (ten years ago) link

I truly have 0 problems with his singing -- I think it's charming, enthusiastic, and full of character.
Ooh!

I am vv curious how the first electronic album would fare if it had been included

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:05 (ten years ago) link

first Electronic album would have been my #1 by a mile

Euler, Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:08 (ten years ago) link

Yeah might have been interesting to include it - even though Marr is involved it always sounded like NO to me. I rank it up there with Technique which was my #1.

Vinnie, Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:09 (ten years ago) link

so are we ready to start this thing for real?

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:12 (ten years ago) link

I only have a problem with his voice when I compare it to others.

I don't think that picture URL works for anyone besides you? You may need to host the pics somewhere.

be back after we get the kinks worked out.

Bee OK, Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:24 (ten years ago) link

Goddamn it I confuse "Mesh" and "Hurt."

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 19:37 (ten years ago) link

That's beautiful. Excited about these images now. Peter Saville wouldn't tolerate an ugly rollout.

Wow, those pics!

Mark G, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:13 (ten years ago) link

ultraviolence is tremendous live, but I always used to confuse it with 5-8-6 and ecstasy.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:17 (ten years ago) link

gonna have to listen to Mesh again, never recall it making much of an impact.

piscesx, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:22 (ten years ago) link

I had forgotten that "Ultraviolence" is great

they are either militarists (ugh) or kangaroos (?) (DJP), Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:23 (ten years ago) link

It's the one with the vocoder, right? The only word I ever made out was the title, once.

Mark G, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (ten years ago) link

i have never been able to remember the names of the songs on PC&L and finally i remembered this one! so glad it showed up!

free your spirit pig (La Lechera), Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (ten years ago) link

Sumner was actually castigating young Dan for hating his voice.

A deeper shade of lol (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:24 (ten years ago) link

Ecstasy is the one with the vocoder.

I always ranked Mesh as the least of their early b-sides, which I guess is reflected in its ranking here. I'm surprised it placed at all! it doe have a cool kind of chilly spaghetti western vibe.

Millsner, Thursday, 30 May 2013 20:25 (ten years ago) link

I am hoping that "Procession" ranks really, really high
