jacob sanders jamming some deep cuts. i would buy all those records and then be, almost certainly, deeply disappointed in their content. any of them actually good?

i gotta get that dakota sid.

i got some sick fiddle & celtic-y records from skot!!
bill lamey on shanachie!
sweeney's men first record (pre-planxty!)
robert cormier on rounder!
isidore soucey!

i really love sweeney's men. i've wanted this record for a long time. i have the 2nd one and it's awesome; this one does not disappoint. i think the argument could be made that they're like an irish kingston trio, singing largely traditional material in a pop way, but the instrumentation is largely bouzouki & mandolin and that is awesome, and there are pipies and fiddles and other things for color. it's not psychedelic but it's a bit hippified. love it.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 00:46 (ten years ago) link

Hey Moe all of the records I've been listening to are great, seriously great! McKinney is members of Sugar Creek, beautiful nice pastoral folk. Pat Gatti is lounge folk with a vocal side and an instrumental side, even has a little fuzz guitar. Travis is country folk a la CSN with a little soft rock vibe. Craig Ruhnlee is a Canadian soft rocker. One of the really exciting records I've found in Oklahoma is this nice sunny folk record, it's truly a beautiful listen.

i cant find an image of the back cover where you can read the text!

this looks like it must be from some re-issue, where it was in the booklet, it'll have to do -
