Anyone into this Welsh ambient producer? I just listened to the tracks linked here and they sound very nice. I was thinking about Steve Reich at one point, maybe just because of some of the soft percussive tones and patterns in one piece, and then I see at the bottom that he's influenced by Reich and La Monte Young and the idea of process music. Has anyone heard the whole Yügen EP?

really wanted to like it, but didn't do much for me

i think it was just the cut up vocals that put me off. i don't really enjoy that sound anymore

it's a bit like a cross between fennesz 'endless summer' and mileece's 'formations'

Yeah these are pretty nice, I'll keep an eye on this guy. Thanks.

i love everything i've heard from him so far, def. going to check out the EP.

K: Yeah, I was reading a lot around the time of writing the EP-- a lot of Ballard and that-- which is something I’d never done until I discovered audio books.

i hope he doesn't mean "reading" in general.

xpost - he may well. I know lots of perfectly smart people who don't really read books.

yeah sorry, i don't meant to suggest that he's not an intelligent dude/musician, he clearly is. it makes me happy when musicians also read books though.

one month passes...

I actually prefer this EP to Tomorrow's Harvest, although I like the latter and am a fan of BoC. It feels like much more of an effort was made to shape the compositions.

I'm not sure where all these are from, since the official version on his Bandcamp only has two tracks, but these offcuts are fantastic (as of course is the album from last year)
