Tao & Zen
Hi everyone,
I was notified by Facebook today that a photographer claimed copyright on an image that I had posted and requested that it be removed. FB asked me to review what I had uploaded and to remove other images that may violate copyright. If there are repeat complaints Tao & Zen could be shut down, and with it possibly my personal page and other pages (Art of Learning & Creative Systems Thinking).
What I've decided to do is unpublish the page soon, then take a month or so to delete all clear violations of a photographer or artist's copyright. That would mean images that I have changed or added to without their permission.
Just uploading the image as the artist had created it will hopefully not be a problem, as long as I add photographer's names when known - next to the image. I will also gladly remove any image if requested directly by the artist.
It will take me some time to go through everything because I want to save the quotes that I typed in. Once the "weeding out" has been done I plan to republish the page.
According to Facebook it should suddenly reappear and all of you who are subscribers should start getting notifications again. Until that time please stop by Creative Systems Thinking for updates and feel free to PM me there.
Artists and photographers also, who want to share work with me in the future or want to let me know of specific works I used of yours, please contact me there.
Ideally, if I could have a small pool of artists/photographers willing to allow their work to be shared here that would make things easier, in case we ever wanted to publish something in the future.
I'm not sure about when Tao & Zen will "disappear" - but probably in less than 24 hours. What I'm now recognizing is these are wise changes that need to be made for the page to survive the long haul, to still be here 5 or 10 years from now.
Your patience and gratitude is appreciated, as is your compassion and loving awareness in this beautiful world we share. That's what matters more than anything else.
This is not Facebook's fault, btw. They have been very lenient, allowing this as much as possible and are only responding because of valid complaints and possible legal action from until now unacknowledged artists and photographers.
Some have recommended that I contact FB or the artists and photographers, but there are too many cases where I wrote text on someone's photograph without asking them. It will be impossible to track those folks down, deleting what is on the page now makes sense I think, and then start from scratch with a more respectful approach and hopefully working with artists who appreciate the exposure here given our large audience.
ANYWAY, I think if we all just keep our hearts open, cultivate a peaceful mind, and flow with the changes, everything will work out.
There are far bigger problems in the world, right?
In Peace & Light,
Christopher~

The highest good is like water.
Water give life to the ten thousand
things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject
and so is like the Tao.
In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be just.
In daily life, be competent.
In action, be aware of the time
and the season.
No fight: No blame.
