Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 17 May 2013 04:29 (ten years ago) link

wanted Spurs to win series cause think they have a better shot at beating Heat, but was rooting for Dubs to force gm 7 cause this is an entertaining match up.

I hope Barnes is ok :/ had to leave with headaches after playing for a while

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 17 May 2013 05:22 (ten years ago) link

I hope he's okay too. He shouldn't have been out there.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 17 May 2013 05:29 (ten years ago) link

Dubs fans are awesome, and speak to the quality of fan/player longterm interaction and experience that gets diminished by ether-floating population of "nba fans".

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Friday, 17 May 2013 15:25 (ten years ago) link

nice subtweet

乒乓, Friday, 17 May 2013 15:55 (ten years ago) link

haha honestly imho its the corporate presence in the lower bowl of most stadiums that kills the live experience

lag∞n, Friday, 17 May 2013 16:29 (ten years ago) link

I went to a dubs game once when they sucked and it was still a p good vibe

lag∞n, Friday, 17 May 2013 16:30 (ten years ago) link

true on corp presence (still remember getting shushed by some rich hag for having the temerity to CHEER during a game like this was the fucking opera), but i've been to stadiums where upper level isn't much better. Lot of non-fans just looking for something to do esp during a random cold night in the winter. oh hey my friend isn't using his tix whattaya say let's go check it out and then if we're bored we can go to that bar over by there ok cool sounds good. fuck you. also no girlfriends/boyfriends should be allowed if they're not fans, you can check your phone constantly somewhere else.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Friday, 17 May 2013 20:19 (ten years ago) link

this is why hemisphere arena/alamodome-era spurs games were the most fun for me growing up, less corporate bullshit, more fat drunk ppl yelling

one if by lamp, two if by deeznuts (m bison), Saturday, 18 May 2013 17:12 (ten years ago) link

scuse me, hemisfair arena

lil nug from this lowe piece abt conley http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9272912/the-evolution-mike-conley-jr-memphis-grizzlies-point-guard

The Grizzlies ranked 21st in points per possession when they traded Gay. They ranked just outside the top 10 after the Gay trade, and they've actually increased their scoring rate in the playoffs; only Miami, San Antonio, and Golden State have averaged more points per possession, per NBA.com. The Grizz are actually in a virtual tie with the Warriors and Spurs after their Game 4 win, meaning Memphis, once a traveling clank-fest, has been something like the league's second-best postseason offense. They cut their turnover rate and started getting to the line more, trends that would offset their slight decline in offensive rebounding without the downgrade in athleticism that came with the Prince/Gay exchange.

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:31 (ten years ago) link

Ha gay sucks

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:35 (ten years ago) link

totally

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:42 (ten years ago) link

conley has definitely seemed really solid from what i've seen of him play

乒乓, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:42 (ten years ago) link

i liked that in the analyses i've been reading they've been v strict about calculating memphis' offensive stats from a post-gay date only

乒乓, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:43 (ten years ago) link

i just imagine hollinger sitting in his memphis office poring over spreadsheets, rubbing his hands like birdman

乒乓, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:43 (ten years ago) link

im sure when he first heard he was interviewing for the job he started fantasizing abt trading gay for anyone at all

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 May 2013 20:45 (ten years ago) link

I want to see Grizzlies/Heat pretty bad

polyphonic, Saturday, 18 May 2013 22:09 (ten years ago) link

we''ll finally seee who's right about bruising interior offense being the heat's achilles heal

乒乓, Saturday, 18 May 2013 22:16 (ten years ago) link

itd be really cool if the griz were just a lil better from 3

Congrats to my buddy for holding in his fart in the elevator when we were stuck for ten minutes last night. Could have been brutal

lag∞n, Saturday, 18 May 2013 23:28 (ten years ago) link

乒乓, Saturday, 18 May 2013 23:36 (ten years ago) link

I think a lot of left handed players are by default.

Conley's post-Rudy stretch has been the best he's ever been, at least subjectively

geroge hill being back is huge for them no one else can dribble or pass

lag∞n, Sunday, 19 May 2013 00:36 (ten years ago) link

I think there's enough interest in the league that it wouldn't be all time and I think some ppl would tune in just to be like who are these dudes and who took out Lebron Kobe and Durant

Sadly OTM, this is one of the worst-dribbling teams I've ever seen.
