if you're down 2 points and are getting the ball i don't think there's a huge difference between 18 and 10 seconds. either you tie the game or you don't and the other team gets the ball back and probably ices the game. end of game clock stuff is less important in the nba because of ball advancement.

you can get a really good shot off from an out of bounds play in 10 seconds (case in point)... some teams won't even get into their offense on a normal possession until there's like 12 seconds on the clock

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:24 (ten years ago) link

can we talk about how terrible zach was on that last possession though

Clay, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:25 (ten years ago) link

biting on a tony allen pump fake might be the single worst play of the playoffs

yes but if you miss you want to have time to foul and get it back!

that was such a z-bo play

'scuse me while i make the sky cum (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:27 (ten years ago) link

sure but in this situation OKC still could have done that with 6 seconds left (although if memphis makes both FTs then it doesn't even matter, which is kinda my point)

z-bo's regulation-ending miss was maybe one-step better than this

Clay, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:28 (ten years ago) link

how the fuck was that a foul on marc

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:29 (ten years ago) link

what the hell happened to jeremy lamb this year, i missed out on his rookie campaign entirely.

Clay, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 04:31 (ten years ago) link

tayshaun looks really out of sync

that was pretty smooth, never noticed how much his form can resemble his brother's from the top of the key

Nothing pleases me more than to watch that little weasel fail.

"Marc's from Memphis man," Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph said. "Marc's tough. Marc played [high school and AAU ball] with all the guys from the ghetto, from south Memphis to north Memphis. And now he's been around me."

i don't think brooks can be faulted for letting harden go to the rockets, or for westbrook's injury. they just aren't the same team without those two.

Aimless, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:04 (ten years ago) link

I think I counted 5 possessions in a row where OKC never passed the ball. There's no way you're gonna beat a good defensive team like Memphis playing like that.

Heez, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:10 (ten years ago) link

I think every team needs three guys that can create shots. They were down to two sans Harden and then when Westbrook went down, just one.

Guys like Ibaka are replaceable at a better price. You hang on to guys like Harden. Always keep the better player.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:15 (ten years ago) link

if wade ages poorly their strategy still may work out

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:44 (ten years ago) link

but i agree with you. they may have expected more growth from serge than what they're getting.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:45 (ten years ago) link

the biggest no brainer was at least keeping harden for this season, then trading him after if you must

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:46 (ten years ago) link

Not amnestying Perkins is still their biggest mistake.

When Mark Jackson discusses Tony Robbins here I muttered "oh brother":

ibaka has progressed really nicely imo, he's looked a little shook in this series for whatever reason, what can you do

'scuse me while i make the sky cum (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:50 (ten years ago) link

majorly shook

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 17:54 (ten years ago) link

ibaka's problem is that if his jumper is off he is basically a no-show on offense which without westbrook totally fucks them

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:05 (ten years ago) link

he has to be at the top of the list of current great nba players who have one specific skill they need to master in the offseason or else it's gonna drag their reputation down

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:06 (ten years ago) link

that skill would be anything resembling offense in the post so he can get looks without having to be set up with a wide open midrange jumper

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:06 (ten years ago) link

ibaka is def not great

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:07 (ten years ago) link

oh ibaka is pretty great. it's just that every scab on a player's game gets picked at in the playoffs. but his numbers over the last two seasons for someone his age are definitely in the echelon of great.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:10 (ten years ago) link

He doesn't really rebound particularly well, actually did worse in that regard with more minutes.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:12 (ten years ago) link

what numbers would you be referring to, he gets a bunch of blocks and shoots a good % on not very many shots, nothing else really jumps out

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:13 (ten years ago) link

ibaka's like a top 40 player and will get better but will probably never be an all-star, unless he gets traded to the bulls, it seems like everyone on that team is an all star

'scuse me while i make the sky cum (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:16 (ten years ago) link

He could use an actual coach, yeah.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:17 (ten years ago) link

ibaka is a cool player but hes pretty limited

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:19 (ten years ago) link

he's very skilled for a young big man and puts up very solid numbers. he'll be an all-star sooner rather than later IMO

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:20 (ten years ago) link

he's a nut puncher

Nhex, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:21 (ten years ago) link

he IS a nut puncher

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:22 (ten years ago) link

get stoudemire off the knicks flat his knee contagion is spreading to shump

乒乓, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:22 (ten years ago) link

he is not very skilled at all! he is an athletic/energy guy if hes anything, the only thing hes got going on offense is hitting open jump shots and put backs, cant dribble cant pass cant score in the post, he is a classic not that skilled nba player

lag∞n, Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:23 (ten years ago) link

a big man with that kind of jump shot fits my definition of "skilled"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 14 May 2013 18:24 (ten years ago) link

so you only have to have one skill to be skilled and you dont even have to be that good at it, yokay
