The trainyard was basically an unused shithole; don't think many people had a big problem w/ something happening to the space. It's just, from its inception, Ratner's proposal was just a real estate thing w/o much afterthought to what would be going on there, not to mention invoking eminent domain on non-AtlYard properties. Among everything, it's kind of sad / maybe indicative of Park Slope that, toward the final stages, the biggest gripe was how much extra traffic / sports fans would be clogging up Atl/Pac/Flatbush.

Was really tough watching them slowly build the BKLN-bound Nets team and see how bad it looked. Aside from totally lucking out w/ Lopez, such a bummer team, and basically no one making that really easy side-step into embracing Brooklyn or w/e. Like, if Harden had ended up in Brooklyn, people would be buzzing about their neighborhood team. No one gives a fuck about these players.

But yeah, those papers were so hilarious to see since they were almost Mr. Burnsesque. From that same article:

Articles by writers of obvious bias are consigned to pages marked Editorial and Op-Ed. In that space, an article in the first issue was signed by Bruce Ratner, namesake of the development company behind the arena project, known as Atlantic Yards. Another article was about him. In it, the Rev. Herbert Daughtry described a talk Mr. Ratner gave to schoolchildren and said Mr. Ratner was "relaxed, smiling and seated on a child's chair, in his customary humble, winsome manner."

boy thats a blatant attempted trip by boshasaurus

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 May 2013 13:42 (ten years ago) link

the one-footed shot was seriously one of the coolest shots i've ever seen. if he can make this with with any kind of accuracy...

'scuse me while i make the sky cum (k3vin k.), Thursday, 9 May 2013 13:48 (ten years ago) link

curry still looked gassed in the 4th again but i guess he only played 43 min, and klay was doing a nice steph impression anyway

that one-leg shot was awesome, that and klay's "dribble up, find a nice spot, casual pull up 3" were incredible- i hope they are doing the nash-nowitzki thing and practicing crazy shots together

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 May 2013 13:55 (ten years ago) link

Curry has hit a couple of those one footers in these playoffs and he hit quite a few during the reg season, always going left off a screen.

deeznuggz (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 9 May 2013 14:38 (ten years ago) link

sweet shot chart, at times the klay/steph backcourt reminds me of various reviled gunners from the late 90's/early 00s and my stat brain is screaming in agony at the long 2s but then they all go in and they look like geniuses

joe smith avatar (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 May 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

They have Landry as well who is a good mid-range shooter.

deeznuggz (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 9 May 2013 16:58 (ten years ago) link

i wonder what the stats are like for big men who develop the long range 2 (webber, garnett, sabonis etc.)
