This was stunning. Have not heard use of word 'feminisation' so often within 5 minutes. Gf was spitting mad, it was terrible, and Humphreys mainly to blame. Do we have a 'Is Today worse than it used to be?' thread? Because it seems to be.

i do think that article is sexist though, because it presupposes a contradiction between seeing someone as sexy and seeing someone as an intelligent, autonomous person, which is a deeply weird thing to think.

He's trying to police himself for sexist behavior, but his "cure" is even more problematic.

IDK none of it struck me as too weird, but then I did grow up Mormon with the "just imagine Jesus" advice ruining my own early sex life. I think 'try not to have a constant pornographic internal movie projector about every woman you come in contact with' may be a reasonable goal (or clumsy first step?) if you are trying to see all women as people. Writing about it is kind of goofy but everyone's a fucking navel-gazer these days, even if the topic isn't usually gazing at others' navels.

Like just thinking about my interactions with random men throughout the day, I never walk away thinking, "I hope that guy thought I was witty and kind AND that he wants me to choke on his cock," like really just the former would be ideal. I thought it was weird that he was talking about how tormented he felt about his idle sex fantasies at the beginning of the piece, to the point where he calls a sex addict hotline, and then finishes up by going to a pool full of bikini-clad coeds and a mostly female yoga class. It was kind of like "I think I might be an alcoholic; I'd better drink these beers to make sure."

When I was in Yeshiva in high school (~10-12th grade) I had a close friend who "struggled" w/ masturbation and used to consult with one of the Rabbis privately to get inspiration/strength to break the habit. Later he had a sexual relationship with another student when they shared a two-person dorm room together. Afaik that was the event that created the policy that the Yeshiva wouldn't put 2 students in the same dorm room alone (only 1, or 3 or more).

that sounds so humiliating, to have rabbis and classmates know about one's masturbation habits.

I honestly don't see how this can be taken as sexist.

Yes, men are looking at women's bodies but a man's brain is wired to marvel in the delicate shapes and details of a woman. At no point is anyone saying that these woman are only good to be gawked at, in fact it's a show dedicated to indulging the desire to look without rudely staring.

Where's the harm in that?

Let me be clear: I don't believe that previously non-Jihad mosque members are going to take to the streets in a terror mob after hearing one anti-Western sermon.
