yeah srsly this has been one of the most immediate earworms i can recall (probably since 'adorn' actually?), was properly singing it to myself the rest of the day even while my opinion of the song was still nascent

this is a good point, he's not a poet or anything but his ability to avoid cliche is a pretty big strength. he's very economical with his lyrics

I'm kind of infuriated by the hashtag. By definition, its insertion suggests that the song is intended as an ephemeral topic of discussion, or being used to promote something - a quick cash-in - and does not at all fit with any of the lyrics or timeless summery sound of the music.

like, it's kinda on the nose but the fact that I can't stop listening to the song more than makes up for it

I think its worth at least discussing... Gimmicks typically suggest insincerity. And it looks awkward to me.
