You all understand that most of us would also be "medically cleared to play," and that this clearance means basically 0% w/r/t actually playing basketball well. Dude is not ready to perform; think dude would lace it up if he thought he'd contribute w/o reinjuring himself.

at one point he was asked if he was mentally ready (this was before or right after medically cleared) and he immediately said "mentally I'm good" but then stumbled around and basically contradicted himself 10 seconds later.
my pet theory is that his bro and bj armstrong told him it's best to sit out, and he's just been flopping around grasping for excuses why he "can't" play.

Yeah, but I don't think it's just "Will I be able to change direction / elevate / etc." stuff but also gameflow stuff. Like, your body needs a lot of reps; to just waltz in 12+ months later and expect to play great playoff basketball against the Miami Heat is just ... can't believe people don't empathize w/ his decision more. It's not just that he can't, but it's more that he's confident that he'll be hurting his team (a team that has played all season w/o him). IDK a lot of mental stuff going on, on top of the obvious physical stuff.

Right, but dude obviously wasn't ready to actually play! Like it totally amazes me how myopic sports fans are about injuries / prep time. Again, I've tuned out most of the Rose talk up until now since I heard way early that he was on the shelf; so, I haven't been hanging on his every participle about his mental and physical health. IMO it's pretty reasonable to believe that dude just overstated his preparedness, being optimistic, and realizing that he wasn't ready to be a contributor.

Will stop w/ this because I'm too in love w/ the Bulls to miss this Game 1 steal.

that's cool if he wanted to be really really cautious and sit the season out. Just say so. He'd get some flack but I think most people would understand and story would be dead in a few days. One thing the media HATES is when they think a player is being dishonest to them...over and over again. getting destroyed on the boards is not a concern

they missed 47 shots, of course they got killed on the boards. but they lost because they missed 47 shots.

the Bulls missed 40 shots and outrebounded Miami by 14
