this is a good point, he's not a poet or anything but his ability to avoid cliche is a pretty big strength. he's very economical with his lyrics

I'm kind of infuriated by the hashtag. By definition, its insertion suggests that the song is intended as an ephemeral topic of discussion, or being used to promote something - a quick cash-in - and does not at all fit with any of the lyrics or timeless summery sound of the music.

not outmoded in the since that hashtags are ephemeral, but outmoded in that twitter is already established and sedimented, it's sort of web 1.5 in a way xp to myself

I feel like a lot more people are dropping hashtags ironically/jokingly this year? Like, the idea of doing this IRL / in contexts other than twitter is something that only just occurred to people? It seems a bit tardy to me but whatevs. Maybe Miguel and Mariah have timed it right in this regard.

I think its worth at least discussing... Gimmicks typically suggest insincerity. And it looks awkward to me.
