Two episodes in, this is fucking ludicrous. But I think I kind of like it.

Will Graham's always correct intuitive leaps are pretty hilarious.

anyway reminds me of Millenium more than anything else which is good
Just cancelled Hulu Plus - for almost the same $ I'll add Blu Rays to Netflix again and have access to all the Criterions

― j., Wednesday, 8 May 2013 17:43 (ten years ago) link
just in case there's a crime scene she needs to snoop around at a moment's notice. although in that case she ought to wear a hairnet everywhere too.

Yeah, I assumed it was so she wouldn't leave prints. She dresses in a very comic book supervillain sort of way, though.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/08/business/media/the-office-gets-an-extra-15-minutes-to-say-goodbye.html?hpw
His campaign won out with NBC’s announcement on Tuesday of the additional 15 minutes, a move that harks back to the old NBC strategy of “supersizing” its comedy hits — letting them run a bit longer than their specific half-hour time periods. (NBC will accommodate the extra time by squeezing the drama that follows, “Hannibal,” to run from 10:15 to 11, with fewer commercials.)
man fuck the office
better, eat the office's face, with some kind of vegetable
― j., Thursday, 9 May 2013 16:45 (ten years ago) link
If it just means fewer commercials I'm fine with that!
I'm so sick of the Office, though -- maybe there could be a very special episode of Hannibal where he kills and eats the employees of Dunder Mifflin.

I haven't watched it for a few years but the tail end that I see before Parks & Rec looks soooooooooo emo and terrible
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 9 May 2013 17:41 (ten years ago) link
Community is ending its season tonight and there's just an Office repeat on after it so I don't know what they've got on at the 8pm hour next week unless (probably) some mawkish clip show retrospective.
The problem with starting Hannibal later, even if it has fewer commercials, is that any kind of scheduling deviation tends to have a negative effect on new, struggling shows. The upside, maybe, is that Office viewers will be stuck 15 minutes into the 10pm hour and might just watch it because everything else has started.

this show is invidious plodding garbage, mikkelsen's charisma alone does not equal having the wit to pull off csi magicaltortureporn

wait is hannibal supposed to be a bad guy or something? no fair spoilers from people who read the books

There is no torture porn in Hannibal, some bloody horrible human organ food pornography though. If you are willing to forgo some of the psychobabble and ride along with it is an enjoyable series. I don't know what expectations some folk itt have watching an NBC series but this one has so far exceeded mine.

one thing I'm digging about the show is the gesture toward gender parity. even though alanna, freddie, and the forensics lady aren't quite as central as hannibal, will, and jack, the female guest stars have been great (gina torres especially). and gillian anderson tonight yesssssss

the chick playing lounds is great
― turds (Hungry4Ass), Thursday, 9 May 2013 19:42 (ten years ago) link
i think the relational setup between the characters is pretty complicated already - could easily be wasted but something good could come of it. one possibly benevolent manipulator/exploiter, one covert malevolent lead who is already infamous for the audience, a suffering 'good' in-show counterpart who everyone basically already treats openly like he's one step away from a serial killer, a morally flexible careerist who will probably end up being given kind of a thing for evil if she's not just the victim of her own incautiousness, the friendly/caring quantico woman, some mentoring-type stuff thrown off on both sides (lecter on his, fishburne on his), some investigative staff, even a dying wife already. and the characters around will are basically in collusion about him except that they're professional peers so that they and he can in some ways acknowledge that they're in collusion about him.
― j., Thursday, 9 May 2013 19:48 (ten years ago) link
gillian anderson!!!?
― j., Thursday, 9 May 2013 19:49 (ten years ago) link
a d&d-style moral orientation setup would probably work well for this show
hannibal isn't even the main character, why isn't the show named Will
― stefon taylor swiftboat (s.clover), Thursday, 9 May 2013 20:42 (ten years ago) link
hannibal operates, will is probably just going to suffer a lot
― j., Thursday, 9 May 2013 20:46 (ten years ago) link
xxxposts yeah hannibal called that guy. seems like he's sort of a fuckup. i mean that's not very good investigative skills.

wooopsie!
― j., Thursday, 9 May 2013 20:52 (ten years ago) link
hannibal also slammed alanna's head against a wall so she wouldn't notice him and abigail going off to bury a dead body
― a sentimental knife (reddening), Thursday, 9 May 2013 21:25 (ten years ago) link
yeah he's looking out for abigail, respect

you guys are kinda crazy. i watched last night's episode because of the praise you guys were giving it... it's... well, it looks good at least, though story-wise it's kind of the worst of Dexter?
