Abstinence

Abstinence would make an absolutely killer suicidal black metal band name, I can see the crooked spidery lettering of the logo now.

He'd sound like Lurker of Chalice or something.

i read that and wondered if there is a band called "Junior Anti-Sex League" and googled it. There is a band called "Junior Anti-Sex League," they are from Melbourne.

"City, Bitches" as in the addressees -- the people reading/hearing your band name -- are the bitches.

Alternately, "Country, Bitches"

most boring rauschenberg inspired cover art too

I argued that short names are enigmatic and therefore not boring, but Connections is unbelievably boring, stimulating no mental image or reaction at all

Haven't read the entire thread, but I recognize at least 20 of these names as real bands or dj's.

My submission:

Card

(or is that too enigmatic?)

Brooklyn band The Dig have just released their new ep, "Tired Hearts."

that's a monumentally boring sentence, start to finish.

In high school I was in a jazz trio with two kids from jazz band -- we actually got a few gigs and made a little bit of money. The pianist insisted on us being called "Shades of Blue." I believe I said "can we please not be called 'Shades of Blue'?" Nonetheless, we were called "Shades of Blue."

fashionably early Christmas themed display name (snoball), Sunday, 8 December 2013 15:17 (ten years ago) link

you could pick a book, not sure what would be best maybe a mills and boon or something, or an airport potboiler, then pick some pages at random. Start in the middle of the page and just have everything between start point and an equally random end point as the bandname. If you wanted to be really boring that is.
Or some random catalogue & do the same. So boring taht nobody would actually remember what the band was actually called. but somebody might come up with an interesting nickname that you'd have to disown obviously.

or you could use the words in this post if you weren't interested enough to go and find a book.

is there a prize?

Stevolende, Sunday, 8 December 2013 15:24 (ten years ago) link

There is no prize. Because that would be interesting, which would be against the spirit of this thread.

yeah think that might fit too, but not as well as the other thing would.

maybe 4 or 5 pages of binary would be cool too. But somebody might just shorten it.
