"Illegal Attacks" is stating the obvious at least four years too late.
The man is an arrogant, gormless twunt and the Stone Roses are the most overrated band ever.

one year passes...

I'm kind of liking the new single, even if it's just a reconfiguration of every solo single he's ever released. What I'm struck with, though (probably because I haven't gone to the trouble of seeing an Ian Brown video in years and years), is how all the sudden he's a VERY OLD MAN.

My Way is the sixth solo album by British artist Ian Brown. The album will be released on September 28, 2009. The album's lead single "Stellify" will be released on September 21, 2009.

My Way was inspired by Michael Jackson's Thriller with Brown noting that "we mastered it on the day that Michael Jackson died (too), so I'm taking that as a good omen."

questions:

is he wearing a sweatshirt with a picture of himself on it?

what the hell does "stellify" mean?

is it possible to watch or listen to ian brown without feeling sort of bad for him?

flying squid attack (tipsy mothra), Sunday, 13 September 2009 04:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Weird, I just was listening to him yesterday for the first time in awhile. "Corpses," "Set My Baby Free," and a few others really do hold up well. Oddly, the AMG review of "The World Is Yours" calls Golden Greats and Music of the Spheres post-Britpop masterpieces.

That's an optimistic way of looking at it, I guess.

(Imagine a reply about Chris and Ian, two Browns beating up their girls, that somehow cannot be interpreted as racist here.)

StanM, Wednesday, 4 November 2009 07:50 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, well, he's married to a curvy Mexican woman, so beating up the flowers of indie rock womanhood looks decidedly dingy and drab to him I'd've thought.

Jedward not otm I'm afraid, he's a disgustingly ugly + unsexy specimen and always has been, even with the cheekbones. Can't help lolling at his use of "lame stream media" though.

Pre-recorded vocals would seem to be a better idea when it comes to an Ian Brown gig - someone else's vocals.

Narada Michael Fagan (Tom D.), Monday, 26 September 2022 10:36 (one year ago) link

He has never been a great vocalist, but he seems to have got significantly worse of late, you could probably pick a random member of the audience and they would do a better job.

xp yeah but they can put on some sort of performance, not shuffle around and mumble out of tune.
