and I never noticed that different stylesheets reproduced images at different sizes before. didn't realize how large you guys were posting images. get ready for 1024 pixels wide from here on out folks.

i think old.css still crops to like 1200 or something, but its more generous than any other stylesheet

near half my photo library is cat photos, tbqf

the rest is split between snaps of my gf and airplane window shots

I did have some cat photos but none had the feel of that shot and I was wondering whether I was being a bit overliteral in my selections (like "I've been there!" "I have one of those!").

I'm in the pub and just wanted to point out I have a photo ideal to follow william c's wing mirror but because i'm using my phone and won't be home til Sunday I won't get a chance to add. The wheel must keep spinning!

Apols for the HTML screw-up; forgot that, although Flickr offers code for a 640px version of a very old scan, it doesn't actually exist until you "create" it by going through All Sizes (it pre-dates Flickr routinely creating that size for new uploads by several years). Only 500px is available for very old pix.

have just the 1.4 but i never use it wider than f2. i'm moving towards a 35 & 85 or 35 & 100 pair which i feel will cover a better range than 50 & something.

i've owned a few 1.4 lenses and even a 1.2 lens at one point but i never used them at 1.4; i think they're good if you fetishize bokeh or you really do find yourself shooting in low light situations a lot. often times the optics are /worse/ than a 1.8 or 2.0 lens since wide aperture lenses require compromises in the lens design.

like i think the 50 1.8 outperforms the 1.4 and the 1.2 throughout 2-4 or 2-5.6, though it evens out by the time you get to smaller apertures? could be wrong

Yeah, the 50/1.8 is really good and it's hard to justify the extra cost of the 1.4 beyond build and silent focusing. I don't think there's much difference in image quality.

85/1.8 gets rave notices. I've borrowed the 100/2.0 before and that's marvellously sharp. The non-L primes are the best value Canons, I think. I love my 28/1.8 but I've always used it on a crop-sensor, so it's basically a normal lens. It would be a very different thing on a FF.

yeah it's both, their wide pinhole camera. it really burns through film you know

it's medium format so 6, or 7 if you start early and finish late.

ah. i have a fuji 6x9 that gets 8 shots per 120

jelly. a med format rangefinder is something i've wanted for a while but i don't know if it will happen now.
