"Personally, I don’t believe that you can live an openly homosexual lifestyle or an openly, like premarital sex between heterosexuals," Broussard said on ESPN's Outside The Lines. "If you’re openly living that type of lifestyle, then the Bible says you know them by their fruits. It says that, you know, that’s a sin. If you’re openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be, not just homosexuality, whatever it maybe, I believe that’s walking in open rebellion to God and to Jesus Christ. So I would not characterize that person as a Christian because I don’t think the bible would characterize them as a Christian."

Have you found the world of media tough for you as a believer?

I can’t say for certain since I’ve always worked in the media, but I believe the world of media is probably like any other secular work environment (or school, for that matter) – full of unbelievers. Your beliefs, values and lifestyle often don’t jibe with those of your co-workers. Because journalists are perhaps more skeptical by definition, there may be even fewer people of faith in this business. Also, now that I’m fairly prominent on TV and thus, at times interacting with sports and pop culture celebrities, I must have my “spiritual guard” up as I navigate these worlds, where carnality is rampant.

speaking as a straight guy but the "lol he's probably closeted himself" tack that some people are given to seems like counterproductive bullying to me

well it's kinda what i think whenever i see somebody openly speaking out against this stuff, we've seen it a lot with republican politicans. didn't mean to offend + bully, if it was taken that way then I apologize

乒乓, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:34 (ten years ago) link

its pretty wrongheaded in that it places the blame of homophobia directly on (presumably closeted) gays

am0n, Monday, 29 April 2013 21:35 (ten years ago) link

well... (presumably closeted) gays who take loud public stances against gay rights. but yeah i can see that.

.@jaygraybay TV deal expires after 2015-16 season. The last renewal came the previous June, or June 2015 in this timeline.

Reiterates expansion doesn't make sense until the league knows what the new TV deal looks like.

Brandon Roy was waived by the Twolves yesterday. You knew it was coming. It was crazy of him to think he could overcome bone-on-bone knees through pure strength of will. I wish him all the best. He was a magnificent player before his knees got used up.

Q: The playoffs are in full swing and what are the stories getting big local play for the blazers?

A: New assistant coach hired and the trainer let go. These two were on the front page of the Oregonian newspaper's sports section. Actual NBA playoffs were relegated to an inside page and got about 1/6 the number of inches.
