huh you know when you hear a song and then you like it and then a few plays later (inc a watch of its amazing video) you realise you're head over heels with it, that just happened

wasn't huge on the first album but i *love* this song

Between this and Rhye's "The Fall", dude seems to have a thing for "La Ritournelle".

can we talk about how much fun the video looks as well

i think my favourite bit is the sudden tempo switch at 1:47

I always liked these guys but this new single seems to be taking it up a level.

This version of "Ex Factor" is stunning:

Michael F Gill, Monday, 13 May 2013 02:52 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, it's due on June 4. Here is a really good acoustic version of "Hey Love" (you would think I was on a street team or something):

yeah, i'm enjoying this as an album. a few clunkers but overall worth repping for.

i didn't even give much of a fuck that you were mod (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 05:24 (ten years ago) link

Yeah this is great. I didn't really get into the first album apart from a few tracks (mainly Slippin') but this one I enjoyed all the way through. A couple of times her vocals reminded me of Syreeta which is obviously no bad thing.

Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 29 May 2013 06:25 (ten years ago) link

ah what a pleasure this album is

r|t|c, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 22:56 (ten years ago) link

what a splendid voice this lady has. so expressive and rich.

monotony, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 02:39 (ten years ago) link

yeah this album is just lovely basically - a bit unlike the debut which worked really well as an overall mood piece (several of the strongs were song obv but none overshadowed the album, and i always listened to it as a whole); here, "hey love" is the obvious Big Tune and the mood is much less heavy/sultry, more playful (ie i doubt this'll be my go-to album for summer hangovers like the debut was). but it's great, yeah

I like this album a lot but "Hey Love" is corny to me.

Ha, I just came here to say that I like "Hey Love" just fine, but it's not the highlight of the album for me.

I really like the album, it is a lot better than the Rhye album. She can *really* sing.

saw them tonight in the park and they were great. Even better live, like by far.
I worked a bit negotiating press with Coco and gave her a bowl. I got a hug and a nice Facebook photo.

sassy, fun, and RELATABLE (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 28 July 2013 03:23 (ten years ago) link

This album is creeping up my albums of the year list every time I play it.

2.25 into Crush is probably my favourite bit of music this year. It's Gonna Get You is possibly my favourite song, it reminds me so much of the first two Syreeta albums. Avalanche is another great one, beautiful end to a really great album.

saw them tonight in a tiiiiny venue in belleville. woah! coco can saaaang. she did an incredible cover of lauryn hill's "ex-factor". also went on a strange rant early in the show thanking everyone for letting her music spread via word-of-mouth and not through her "getting naked on a wrecking ball".

album is still v. enjoyable.

monotony, Thursday, 14 November 2013 22:02 (ten years ago) link

coco is a monster live no doubt.
i gave her a bowl i threw when she played out at $ummer$tage and got hugs. def high point of the season.

So - it looks like Quadron are on hiatus for the time being, but Coco O. put a 2-song EP called Dolceaqua out on Friday.

The arrangements are probably just a little too temperate for my taste but at the same time she's the sort of singer who sounds nice over anything.

She is also on the first track of the last CTM record which is quite good. A bit like a mix of Bark Psychosis and FKA Twigs.
