Cat skeletons laying under ceiling high piles of hard drives containing withheld podcasts

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 03:31 (eleven years ago) link

he has no idea how many ppl are waiting to hear a possibly tightlipped, curt, insanely nervous Seth :D

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 03:34 (eleven years ago) link

Exactly. So excited.

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 03:38 (eleven years ago) link

Psyched to hear this wtf, but i'm worried that maron, since he seems to know the show mainly second hand thru his gf, will treat jah like the star and seth as his sidekick

gentle german fatherly voice (President Keyes), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:52 (eleven years ago) link

oh definitely and even if he didnt want to i cant imagine seth being super friendly and talking feelings for an hour like jonathon might BUT WHO KNOWS

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 16:41 (eleven years ago) link

can't wait for a solid hour of questions about night court and drugs

goole, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 16:43 (eleven years ago) link

and Britney lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 22:16 (eleven years ago) link

woah yeah it could get deep in to drugs/sobriety, didn't think about that

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:03 (eleven years ago) link

I hadn't considered that either, now I'm more excited

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:05 (eleven years ago) link

that WTF was pretty great--Maron did a good job of drawing Seth out of his shell.

gentle german fatherly voice (President Keyes), Monday, 22 April 2013 13:10 (eleven years ago) link

Oh holy fuck at the guy with the leaf blower.

how's life, Monday, 22 April 2013 13:26 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah that was surprisingly great. Jah is married again?

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Monday, 22 April 2013 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

But not living with his wife at present?

how's life, Monday, 22 April 2013 15:21 (eleven years ago) link

Indeed.

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Monday, 22 April 2013 15:22 (eleven years ago) link

remember this was recorded aaaages ago, so him and wife are splitsville by now (at least that's how I am interpreting that)

I remember the whole late to the airport thing from one of the episodes a while back

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 18:34 (eleven years ago) link

ah yeah.

goole, Monday, 22 April 2013 18:36 (eleven years ago) link

lolllll at Jah throwing out the random words for the awning at the beginning: 'credenza' 'trellis'

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 18:36 (eleven years ago) link

this is a really great interview, i'm really happy Maron worked to include Seth *and* seemingly put him at ease

well, at ease as Seth can be out of his own living room <3

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:08 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i was p nervous going in but they had a nice dynamic, the three of them

goole, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:11 (eleven years ago) link

interesting how jonathan seemed protective of seth

kinda cool that there was so much discussion of the economics of podcasting

goole, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:12 (eleven years ago) link

yeah I kinda felt like a parent listening for all the little verbal tics and the way Jonathan would step in when Seth would sound a little defensive and whatnot

and then hearing them both drop all their UYD-speak onto Maron, like Seth's dispensary has mad-AIDS and cancer looool

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:14 (eleven years ago) link

yeah didn't jonathan say "dip out" or something w/in 15 seconds?

goole, Monday, 22 April 2013 20:20 (eleven years ago) link

YES

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:27 (eleven years ago) link

I did enjoy that convo about economics and why they are where they are; it did very much feel like a weirdly fatherly conversation.

I mean, I could go on like this for an hour. I just loved hearing them outside of their own show. It was great.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 20:28 (eleven years ago) link

oh and re: ep 368

I looooooooooooved Seth's rant about how much everything costs.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 22 April 2013 21:44 (eleven years ago) link

that was the first time seth's revealed that he works at a dispensary, right?

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Thursday, 25 April 2013 02:30 (eleven years ago) link

yeah I think so

I always thought it was a vitamin store or hippy juice bar, lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 25 April 2013 02:57 (eleven years ago) link

i think it might have been alluded to, or maybe it slipped out? it didn't strike me as totally new when he said it.

goole, Thursday, 25 April 2013 03:24 (eleven years ago) link

someone on the uyd forums posted saying they saw him working at one but its never been discussed on the show iirc?

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Thursday, 25 April 2013 03:52 (eleven years ago) link

now i'm thinking maybe he did come out and say it once in the last year or two, though...

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Thursday, 25 April 2013 03:53 (eleven years ago) link

I think they may have said something about it, but they also used to talk about his grandbaby Jeff in Arizona too.

how's life, Thursday, 25 April 2013 08:14 (eleven years ago) link

By which I mean, I'm accustomed to them putting fictional information out there re: Seth.

how's life, Thursday, 25 April 2013 08:17 (eleven years ago) link

i dont recall them mentioning it at all on uyd. i always assumed he worked in an office mostly from his fictional arguments with co-workers over stealing his chobani

(from a bottle you dicks) (sunny successor), Thursday, 25 April 2013 15:33 (eleven years ago) link

i spent most of the time trying to listen through the ears of a WTF fan who'd never heard of UYD, and while I think they did a good job and sounded like their genuine selves, they didn't really accurately convey what it is that makes UYD so listenable, endearing, and hilarious (though i know that WTF is often where comedians go to not be funny and instead get real for an hour).

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Thursday, 25 April 2013 15:49 (eleven years ago) link

xpost I thought Seth worked at Whole Foods

mimicking regular benevloent (sic) users' names (President Keyes), Thursday, 25 April 2013 18:11 (eleven years ago) link

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 27 April 2013 02:35 (eleven years ago) link

are you talking about when seth name-drops harris wittels?

how's life, Saturday, 27 April 2013 10:29 (eleven years ago) link

I think it's when Jonathan says "Earwolf doesn't want us" on WTF

mimicking regular benevloent (sic) users' names (President Keyes), Saturday, 27 April 2013 10:46 (eleven years ago) link

OK, I must have missed that part. Earwolf is definitely mad corny though.

listening to ep 369 right now, so good. dying at weddings gone wrong. apart from ilx this is about the only thing capable of making me lol until it hurts. i've decided i'm going to listen to every episode in the near future. are the earliest episodes available anywhere? I downloaded some last year, but I'm missing a bunch and it appears as if itunes has only archived as far back as ep 76.

jajaja jilarious (qiqing), Saturday, 27 April 2013 11:12 (eleven years ago) link

nm, just realised i can listen via the main UYD page.

jajaja jilarious (qiqing), Saturday, 27 April 2013 11:16 (eleven years ago) link

if you subscribe to the show on itunes you can download all of the episodes

mimicking regular benevloent (sic) users' names (President Keyes), Saturday, 27 April 2013 11:40 (eleven years ago) link

if you're downloading directly to a phone, you'll need an app (like downcast) to get anything older than the latest 300 eps

I highly recommend you doing this. I started at episode 1 in February 2012 and finally caught up in December 2012. This was listening to multiple episodes daily. Mostly in my car to and from work and at lunch. I took the weekends off.
