ya my understanding is that they all used to live together but then the land masses drifted and they were separated

The union jack is essentially a geneological road map connecting the islands, with the red lines showing how our british blood joins us together despite being seperated by the blue swathes of the ocean and the white cliffs of dover.

also dmac is posting pictures of potatoes, lagoon if you didn't know the english people all LOVE potatoes but most of the good potato farms were on what is now great britain, so after the continental drift the people in "ireland" didn't have any potatoes and they all starved. they were mad abt this so they started a war w/ their british brothers to get their potatoes back, they lost and the british made them all dye their hair red very funny story but also sad, a constant reminder of their defeat at the hands of the 'redcoats'

i'm changing my religious status to 'non-practicing juggalo'

i have strong opinions about the future of jewishness in america - i think the different denomination thing is a historical anomaly and we're trending towards the pre-war model, aka everyone is jewish and ppl make private decisions about their levels of observance. you see this with chabad a lot - people who are otherwise non practicing but identify + participate in an orthodox community. u see this reflected in demographic statistics where orthodox schools + synagogues are growing and conservative/reform schools and synagogues are losing members (mostly to assimilation) and closing.

i should say "everyone is *just* jewish" i don't mean to suggest that pre-war all those irish were actually jews
