Staff on that floor who hold their dream job
Cheers.
Still loving Polymer if anyone wants two minutes of space out.

Well, Dan, since you asked, the answer is "it's the one where my junk is 8x bigger than yours"

Now I've gone and got the lightspeed elevator I'm all about costuming my dream jobbers. The recording studio is staffed by mimes, the furniture store by Vikings, etc as appropriate

So far my favorite thing in Tiny Tower has been renaming the stores
I am particularly proud of my video arcade, which is called Qbert Sex Swing
― the pheromones of hot clothing (DJP), Tuesday, 2 April 2013 16:27 (eleven years ago) link
I feel like when I have all the stores and all the apartments and all the people in their ideal careers I could write a novel, alternating floors chapter by chapter through the melancholy edifice of a self-building arcology of super deformed wage slaves and their endless plight of not sleeping, paying rent for no good reason, and only changing clothes when god tells them to
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 02:11 (eleven years ago) link
honestly I can't tell you all how hard I lol when I get an alert on my phone that says "time to restock at QBERT SEX SWING on floor x"
― the pheromones of hot clothing (DJP), Wednesday, 3 April 2013 02:24 (eleven years ago) link
That is a really gross name for a thing. Do you imagine qbert bouncing off a porn lady, foiled by his lack of apparatus, shouting qbert curses as the swing inexorably returns his pellet-shaped bod to the point of his erotic fail?

100% yes, until Qbert realizes "hey my nose..." and makes a critical adjustment

I'm definitely not running for office now. Supporting the war in Iraq was one thing, using the n-word in all caps, sure, but now see what you made me do? The Tombot governor dream is dead for dead and died and you dug the hole.
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 04:28 (eleven years ago) link
Lol, hole.

uh, so we're all playing Ridiculous Fishing, right? worth so much more than it's $2.99 price.
This game wouldn’t be a masterpiece without its graphics. They are stylish — all of the fish are made up of forty-five-degree angles, a refreshing break from the tyranny of the square — and they are colorful. They are neither eight-bit nor sixteen-bit. They are no number of bits at all, yet when you look at Ridiculous Fishing, you know for certain that it is a videogame. You can say the same thing about its music: like the game itself, and its graphics, the music is simultaneously bizarre and catchy, and ties the package up into a holistic design masterpiece. All of these elements combine naturally to create a game that is more than “just a game”; like the original Super Mario Bros., it is a piece of pop-art in itself. Ridiculous Fishing is both the new Angry Birds — and something else entirely. Time will tell what that entire something else may be.

still playin' it. really want to unlock all the chars, but god knows how long that'll take to buff up everyone enough to get that far. i'm stuck at 9
― Nhex, Friday, 5 April 2013 04:06 (eleven years ago) link
Injustice iOS app is pretty solid. Basically like the Batman Arkham City one, but it's a got a card-collecting King of Fighters vibe with 3v3 teams and it's better because it's free. Worse because it has some time-consumable crap to limit playtime and encourage IAP, but they give you enough to get like 15-20 minutes of game time per day, and you get more time the more characters you unlock. Good corporate synergy with giving unlocks to the console version (the NBA2K MyLife iOS and Facebook apps did this too).

Very bored with Nimble Bit. Occasionally judders at the wrong moment which is very frustrating. I like the concept though. Also loads quickly so good for quick games.
― hyggeligt, Friday, 5 April 2013 23:28 (eleven years ago) link
i've got like seven characters on nimble quest. maybe three are leveled up. the frustrating bit is that there's lots of slow, dreary play where you still have to pay attention or you'll die, and then a little bit of tricky play and then i always die.

I find the real trick of NQ is when you have five or so heroes, and forget how vulnerable the leader is biz of all the damage your wake is able to do. I'm trying to develop a method- so far, caring less about gems seems perversely helpful.
― El Tomboto, Saturday, 6 April 2013 05:05 (eleven years ago) link
man Injustice is SUCH a grind but i keep sinking time into it, damn card collecting and a bajillion upgradable stats
still like NQ but i think i've hit a wall in not being able to get to hero #10. i might just have to grind it out on this game too, to level up all my guys to 2 stars

Dungeon Plunder update this week made levels 7+ a little less hard & I'm digging it even more
― Euler, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 14:25 (eleven years ago) link
did it add a fucking high scores list? it's unbelievable that it tells you your score when you die, and doesn't track it anywhere. that's like half the fun with a roguelike, to try to beat your own high score!
― your holiness, we have an official energy drink (Z S), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 14:31 (eleven years ago) link
no it didn't
what's fun is to try to make it another level further so that you get to start at a higher level the next time you die, un rogue like there but I like it
― Euler, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 14:34 (eleven years ago) link
fairway solitaire has an obnoxious "buy our other games" splash screen even after you've paid for it, it's still iphone 4-sized, it is WAY too big for a card game, it's super slow and annoying and yet, fuck, i cant stop playing the stupid thing
― zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 April 2013 17:12 (eleven years ago) link
I only play it on the iPad.
Has there ever been a best iOS game poll?
― Jeff, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 17:14 (eleven years ago) link
iOS games are counted in Coint + Plick but i don't think ilx has run an exclusively iOS game poll
― Mordy, Wednesday, 10 April 2013 17:16 (eleven years ago) link
I think it would be interesting to see them compete against themselves. Unlike other all time game polls, I don't think there would be as much bias to the new latest and greatest game.
Anyway, people who like running polls, consider it in the future.
