There is a pre-self-titled album mix floating around called "le mix." Obligatory Klymaxx, Cameo, etc., but some other good stuff. I'm going to the show this saturday @ empty bottle (fits 7.5 people), should be riot-inducing.

Going to see them in a couple of days, LOVED needy girl and some of the rest of that album grew on me... hopefully will be a good time! (venue is kind of budget but not lacking in space)

i d***loaded the chromeo record and will gladly see cameo if i catch them touring for 12 dollars

yeah i dont know that id necessarily spend $$ on this but i dont really have a problem w/ this kind of pastiche/revival/whatever; id take zapp over these guys any day but ive heard more bounce to the ounce about six million times

plus if i can use them to get babes into lisa lisa & cult jam then im all for it

There's something about the best parts of the new one, though, that don't really feel like pastiche -- god knows how, since every individual element seems like pastiche, but there's something about the whole that winds up feeling to me a bit like the difference between Daft Punk and whatever Daft Punk are sampling. (I.e., not really different in content, but somehow vastly different in feel and application and whatnot.)

yeah and even on the point about shows, cuet girls go to chromeo shows and formerly-cuet 30/40-somethings go to SOS Band reunions

is there an sos band reunion? i would go to that too probably

i would like to take my mom to a chromeo show. she would be a good bellweather to their fidelity and authenticity

I like most of the songs but some of them are duds. I get embarrassed when the female voice comes on about the telephone number. Great legs on the cover though.

I like this a lot, except for the Momma's Boy song.

I like the first album better, but the new one is definitely fun. They're playing for free on Monday here in SF as part of a going.com promo. Probably be tons of people there I guess.

My roommate got Chromeo in the mail, not every 80s 12" R&B ever produced so I've been listening to the former. :(

if 00s R&B actually sounded like 80s R&B...
