[I will bid against myself for comedy purposes until the heat is on at around 20p]

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah I'm going but a friend dropped out. I think I'm actually going to get the money back, but didn't think I'd get much sympathy (hah!) if I said "cos that's 116 quid a friend has lost".

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

I've heard of lots of people wanting tickets too chris, but all of them decide they can't afford it when they're faced with the reality buying it.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Okay I hear 20p.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'll point someone in your direction, she knows the cost I believe.

Should we have a FAP tomorrow night as there's a lot of meeting/bag swapping/ticket buying going on?

chris (chris), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

I stand bravely behind a new 20p bid.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Chris, a FAP's a great idea but it would be more convenient for me if you were to have it in Dublin.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think a FAP is U&K for people not going but who want to see that soppy Glasgow lot.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

one of them anyway!

chris (chris), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

25p

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

my initial thought about a FAP was YES! no work the next day! But then I remembered I've got to drive down there :0( Not till later though!

Vicky (Vicky), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

The man's a shark! 27p and a bottle of Larazade!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

Cor this is exciting.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:39 (twenty-one years ago) link

chucks their uncooked breakfast at your chalet window

Is that a euphemism?

I'm taking a bottle of cuban rum, ear plugs, an extra bed sheet (plastic covers on mattresses = sweaty arses) and a good supply of pound coins for DDR.

I could do a FAP on Monday night - Thursday will be spent in the company of Ryan Air, then Mr & Mrs Moore.

Does anyone know if there's a rule that obliges Ryan Air Hostesses to wear their hair in donut buns? Because, like, they all do.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:39 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yes yes, FAPping tomorrow, Starry can come too and be congratulated on new jobbiness and everything. And I can drink my boredom away. Oh, and maybe say hi to Ally & MiU (this is a good if twee acronym).

Ph34r not, Vicky, for you can always be sensible with the bouze. Oh, wait...

Errr, I bid 50p! Sorry, getting caught up in the madness. Somebody stop me ect ect.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

Some wear banana clips. It's an Irish thing, Madchen, you have often commented on my complicated up-dos, remember?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

Come on a fiver and I'll cook you breakfast.

(nb: this may not be true)

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

50p

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

You cannot duplicate bids, Pinefox. 51p at least, go on, you can manage it.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:49 (twenty-one years ago) link

For 55p you can have soggy cornflakes.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

For a quid he'll shag you!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

EW!

99p

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

Fried cornflakes with bacon? Err, num num.

Ah yes, you'll be shagging his bank a/c for certain if you only give the lad a quid (pro quo?).

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago) link

God why can I sell nothing without sex becoming an issue?

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Because you are a tramp.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

[This is pure conjecture]

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

I am speechless!

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ah but sex sells innit Steve? Give in and enjoy it - lie back and think of a country of yr choice.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

And a quid!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

You know I don't think I've ever got paid for sex before. This could be the start of something profitable.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

When I said tramp, I meant cheap tart.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 11:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hey profit is relative.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

And self respect and personal dignity are COMMODITIES to people like you!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

£1.50 minus the shag?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

£2

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

Now this is how I'm used to using sex to my advantage.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ha! Back to 2p and some tissues?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

As usual.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

£2.50

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hey I can buy a pint now!

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

£2.50, a rubber glove and a tub of atrixo!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

heaven.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Deal?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

um...

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

£2.52

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yaya! Pinefox to the rescue yet again.

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Now that sex has been removed from the equation, the bidding is going a lot slower...

Steve.n. (sjkirk), Wednesday, 2 April 2003 12:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

I very much want to go to week 2, still trying to get 2 more peeps.

Nik (Nik), Monday, 5 January 2004 02:06 (twenty years ago) link

B-but Boredoms are only playing the first w/end

Andrew L (Andrew L), Monday, 5 January 2004 08:00 (twenty years ago) link

Yay. I think a FAP around 4am in the pub might be fun. I'm going to week 2.

jellybean (jellybean), Monday, 5 January 2004 08:50 (twenty years ago) link

we've had tickets for week 1 since before they announced the lineup...so hopefully it'll be a good one!

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 11:43 (twenty years ago) link

don't bother unless you're really into the bands. last year they made no effort at putting on a 'rest of festival' after all. i worked out that for the same money (possibly cheaper) i could have gone to benicassim and seen lots of bands i actually LIKED.

that said: cat power; fiery furnaces; stephen malkmus - it has potential..

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 5 January 2004 11:53 (twenty years ago) link

last year, the "rest of the festival" was the best bit!!!

That said, Barry whatshisface didn't actually organise me proposing to Vicky. Best music last year was in the bar on the Monday morning at 3am - it was fantastic.

chris (chris), Monday, 5 January 2004 11:57 (twenty years ago) link

yes, you're right about that actually - but for me, most of that was the fun we made ourselves, seeing friends, going to the beach, getting drunk in chalets - that sort of thing. i may be getting all dewy-eyed and nostalgic, but i seem to remember that even in the couple of years before last they had at least made SOME effort to put something else besides the bands on. none last year. if i have to make my own entertainment, i can probably do that at home while nobody is looking..

i remember walking into the queen vic on the sunday night and they were playing amy stewart's 'knock on wood'. to me, after everything else i had listened to that weekend, it sounded like the best thing i had EVER heard.

actually, it is quite a nice song.

i think someone said it was northern soul monday morning 3 a.m.? i had given up by that point.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Monday, 5 January 2004 12:04 (twenty years ago) link

it was, and it was great, me and Jonnie danced our arses off.

chris (chris), Monday, 5 January 2004 12:08 (twenty years ago) link

i had so much fun last year, and a lot of it was just close-quarters hanging with my friends, kind of going on first dates with my now boyfriend, and doing little field trips (to the lighthouse, the mini train, that famous guy's house, pubs in rye) etc.

i'm sure this year can't possibly live up to it, but i'm even more excited about the bands. and trans am will be there. and maybe i can hang out with them. which i've wanted to do for about 6 years or something.
