oh thanks for putting that up Stew, never seen it before - friends in the audience were all agreed that the opening crescendo was the best part of our performance. i was stood fairly close to the amazing vocal poet Steve McCaffery, who was so expert at this kind of thing it was slightly intimidating - but the way he went for it was also really encouraging.

participating in the choir really brought home to me how difficult improvising (of any sort) is - how you've got to be 'in the moment', responsive to others AND constantly inventing and changing within yr chosen idiom - and that's so difficult to sustain over length of time over a few minutes. i remember at one of the rehearsals that phil asked us all to yodel - and nobody could do it really - whereas he made it seem so easy.

His stuff w/Roger Turner is excellent from what I recall. Totally pulls off on the serious modern day dadaist front.

Plays Jimi Hendrix! Anyone heard this?

Yeah, I got it a few years ago, but haven't listened to it very many times. It's not bad; Minton has it both ways, with extended techniques and also singing the lyrics fairly straight. There's a moment on "3rd Stone from the Sun" where I thought I was hearing multitracked lines of guitar feedback, but then realized one of them was Minton screaming.
