caek, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:06 (eleven years ago) link

yes

乒乓, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:07 (eleven years ago) link

I live in sunnyside!!

it is an okay commute, not ideal but not life ruining

iatee, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:08 (eleven years ago) link

well idk thats where iatee lives u should ask him

乒乓, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:08 (eleven years ago) link

iatee, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:08 (eleven years ago) link

not sure yet. will let you know.

caek, Monday, 18 March 2013 16:24 (eleven years ago) link

if it's close to the subway it could be ok but some things there can be pretty far from the trains

dmr, Monday, 18 March 2013 17:34 (eleven years ago) link

ugh, shipping. has anyone done this? is there a thread for how terrible it is?

caek, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:16 (eleven years ago) link

this thread is about shipping records but probably applies to shipping a bunch of heavy stuff cross country in general

moving vinyl

dmr, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:36 (eleven years ago) link

cross ocean : (

caek, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:44 (eleven years ago) link

EMS surface imo. however, thanks to the hilarious antics of congress, the USPS no longer does surface shipping to other countries. lock in

乒乓, Thursday, 21 March 2013 16:46 (eleven years ago) link

i don't think it's actually called 'ems surface' btw. i shipped a hell of a lot of stuff overseas using surface mail and it was cheap and it got there.

I used these guys for a US to Canada move. They were fast and professional, and they specialize in not-huge moves: www.sh1psmart.c0m (un-googleproof first obv)

is anyone using tmobile on iphone in nyc? are you getting 4G or E?

caek, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:06 (eleven years ago) link

goes back and forth but it's definitely been improving

iatee, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:18 (eleven years ago) link

in new york you dont need a cell phone you just yell HEY IM TRYINA WALK HERE and everything else pretty much takes care of itself

lag∞n, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

are you with tmobile directly or straightalk or sovelei. seems like straightalk have stopped offering at&t network sims to new customers.

also, lol at paying for sim cards. how charming!

caek, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

that's an xp, i don't care what network you're on lagøøn, you're probably on two yoghurt pots connected by a bit of string

caek, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:21 (eleven years ago) link

iatee, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:34 (eleven years ago) link

iatee, Sunday, 24 March 2013 15:39 (eleven years ago) link

tmobile has been hella shitty for me when i'm in NJ and fine in NYC

i petted a bodega cat today. (forksclovetofu), Sunday, 24 March 2013 17:48 (eleven years ago) link

t-mobile worked really bad for me in astoria so I dropped them and got verizon and it was much better. that was years ago though.

dmr, Sunday, 24 March 2013 21:46 (eleven years ago) link

yeah apparently they're in the process of making their data network 4g comaptible (before that gsm iphones worked, but only got 2g speeds), and new york was one of the first cities to get the upgrade late last year.

verizon, sprint et al. not an option (via gsm iphone). it's at&t or t-mobile.

three weeks pass...

what's the weather like in new york at the moment?

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:43 (eleven years ago) link

meh

charlie 4chan, internet detective (Hurting 2), Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:44 (eleven years ago) link

it was really nice yesterday, it's overcast today

iatee, Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:45 (eleven years ago) link

Rain tomorrow. It's generally reliably in the 50s but there can be a chilly breeze still so unless you're right in the sun, it's cooler than you think. Nights are a little cold but you can sit outside in a sweater. High of 70 tomorrow, which I'll believe when I see it, but it shows you how unreliable things are right now.

lets just remember to blame the patriarchy for (in orbit), Thursday, 18 April 2013 20:50 (eleven years ago) link

thank you. in orbit, your answers are always really helpful - i would buy yr travel guide!
