Best Song on "Loveless"

nostormo, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 08:39 (eleven years ago) link

ah, it's those damn quotes again, makes it 'difficult' to search for.,

Mark G, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 09:14 (eleven years ago) link

No, but mystifying that so many people found that their favourite track out of all of them.
perhaps they were trolling

sleepingsignal, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 15:09 (eleven years ago) link

not that i really care but 'if i am' was my fave

r|t|c, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 15:23 (eleven years ago) link

I rly care and I agree

we're beautiful like robots in dis guys (m bison), Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:01 (eleven years ago) link

This really does seem to get better and better with each listen

the company of wome (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 13 March 2013 21:39 (eleven years ago) link

Surprised to see Who Sees You ranked so low, that's the one that grabbed me first and the one I wind up going back to often. Best guitar work on the album imo

global tetrahedron, Wednesday, 13 March 2013 22:08 (eleven years ago) link

New You is definitely my favourite followed by In Another Way.

pssstttt, Hey you (dog latin), Thursday, 14 March 2013 11:08 (eleven years ago) link

Wonder 2 just feels like an idea Kevin Shields has had lying around since 1997. Which might be true of quite a lot of this actually.

Matt DC, Thursday, 14 March 2013 11:18 (eleven years ago) link

Wonder 2 is a bit of a messy track in execution IMO.

pssstttt, Hey you (dog latin), Thursday, 14 March 2013 11:25 (eleven years ago) link

Just posting up a bit of early Third Eye Foundation for comparison for those who don't know it:

Voted "Nothing Is" and definitely not trolling. Pleased it got so many votes. When I listened to the album through for the first time it was the only track that demanded to be heard again. Obviously the dark horse of the album.

tbh I am somewhat surprised that anyone gunning for a My Bloody Valentine album in 2013 hasn't already heard Third Eye Foundation

Darth Icky (DJP), Thursday, 14 March 2013 14:33 (eleven years ago) link

You gotta be kidding.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 14 March 2013 14:39 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, I haven't

Mark G, Thursday, 14 March 2013 15:01 (eleven years ago) link

I assumed they were a bigger deal then they actually were/are, I guess; I generally assume by the time I hear about any band everyone else is tired of them and has moved on

Darth Icky (DJP), Thursday, 14 March 2013 15:03 (eleven years ago) link

i've heard exactly one song by TEF.

pssstttt, Hey you (dog latin), Thursday, 14 March 2013 15:12 (eleven years ago) link

Think that later Third Eye Foundation once the guitars got ditched is generally better known too, and at that point any major similarity to MBV is lost

acid in the style of tenpole tudor (NickB), Thursday, 14 March 2013 15:29 (eleven years ago) link

I remember being recommended TEF at the time but could not find any of their stuff in stores so I just forgot about it

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 14 March 2013 15:34 (eleven years ago) link

I can remember quite a few acts trying that mbv/shoegaze meets dance thing in the late 90s, Acceleradeck and Chessie were a couple I remember liking quite a bit, although they were generally on the more drone end.

first TEF album Semtex is definitely essential listening for those who want to hear the shoegaze/jungle amalgam

this album is fucking amazing, of course

reet pish (imago), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 02:55 (ten years ago) link

ehh it's pretty good. i'm not bored of it yet.

electricsound, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 03:21 (ten years ago) link

the middle run of tracks really does grow on ya

reet pish (imago), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 03:23 (ten years ago) link

the first track became my favorite now

In Another Way gives me all sorts of crazy synaesthetic yearnings. I think it's one of the best songs of the last ten years. I didn't even vote for it here (because Wonder 2 is just as good)

diarmuid o'gallus (imago), Friday, 1 November 2013 01:06 (ten years ago) link

Wonder 2 is great but in another way beats it. Only tomorrow has no business being in the top 3 here.

(emphasis Treeship's) (Treeship), Friday, 1 November 2013 02:39 (ten years ago) link

it does tbf, it's the 3rd best track

diarmuid o'gallus (imago), Friday, 1 November 2013 02:41 (ten years ago) link

Wonder 2 is the only song I skip on this (ok, besides the boring stereolab one), can't understand for the life,of me what people hear in that song. In another way & only tomorrow otoh are career highlights

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 1 November 2013 08:25 (ten years ago) link

New You is the only one I go back to.

Pingu Unchained (dog latin), Friday, 1 November 2013 09:17 (ten years ago) link

voted for IOW. still think it's the best song here.

She Found Now should be higher

nostormo, Friday, 1 November 2013 12:15 (ten years ago) link

one year passes...

this will have been one of the great records of 2010-15

kevin shields is too much

rahrah avis (imago), Tuesday, 7 July 2015 00:05 (eight years ago) link

I still haven't heard this!

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 7 July 2015 00:51 (eight years ago) link

Wow "Is This and Yes" got 0 votes? I love that song! It's like a really really really chilled out Stereolab.

This album is great, I agree. Way better than it should have been.

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 7 July 2015 01:50 (eight years ago) link

"new you" has the biggest hook, surprised it didn't get more votes

brimstead, Tuesday, 7 July 2015 02:18 (eight years ago) link

New You is the highlight by far. Can take or leave the rest.

cod latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 7 July 2015 09:31 (eight years ago) link

I love this album and yes, one of the best records of the decade so far
