Is there a worst-represented-on-record genre than delta blues? So many titans of the genre were horribly/sporadically recorded by guys who had no idea how to capture a juke joint show. Big Joe Williams is another guy like Bukka White who's clearly brilliant but has a largely boring discography.

Both of these guys made some pretty good-to-great albums imo. The Big Joe album called Nine String Guitar Blues is really good, as is all the George Mitchell stuff. Bukka fares even better. Great ones: Aberdeen Mississippi, 1963 Isn't 1962. Pretty good one if you can find it for under ten bucks: Big Daddy.
Also, the Bukka stuff on the Takoma Contemporary Guitar comp is so, so good!

The closing track, "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper", was based on the Bukka White blues song "Shake 'Em On Down"
it sure was! funny how you can think you know the whole story, more or less, of zeppelin plagiarism, and still there are nuggets to be discovered.
anyway, listening to the album on takoma tonight. maybe not as thrilling as some of the videos you can find (re-upping two below), but a great listen for sure.
