September to November are fully delightful months. December to March not so much, but I can deal.

I don't get excited about March anymore, because March is the month of false hopes. March always lets you down. But yeah, at least it's not fucking February, by far my most hated month.

i have to get excited about march or i lose hope completely
it's going to be rough going here while we transition, but things will slowly get better
(as opposed to facing months and months of things slowly getting worse)

March is going to be a big improvement over Feb. 'cause I can get some seeds into the ground, continue trying to get in better shape, maybe travel a bit, smoke some ribs, etc

Now my wife won't have to listen to me saying "it's still February" every freaking day.

now the snow is half-melted and i see crocuses. garden clean-up time in a week or so.

my birthday is in april so I appreciate March as the leadup

also daylight savings starts in a couple of weeks, and I'm excited to resume my evening walks after work

Never been a fan of march, even less so now it brings me to 40 years of age.
10 years ago, it was amazing, now, not so much.

I hated March growing up because in upstate NY it was pretty much just gray, muddy, icy, slush, punctuated by the occasional blizzard. March in East Tennessee is a whole other thing, there's usually a point during the month where suddenly everything blooms in about 3 days and it's 70 and sunny. We get some more dreary weather into April, but still, it's generally beautiful. It hasn't started well this year -- 35 and gray today -- but forecast says 66 by next weekend, so here's hoping.

The excitement of March is dampened a little by the prospects of a snowstorm getting prepared to dump up to a foot of snow on us tomorrow. :/

Also the part of the forecast that pointed out additional systems on the way that may likely mean March alone exceeds our snow totals for all of the rest of winter.

Fret if you must — I will deal with snow when it happens but the trajectory is inevitable. It will gradually get better and no snow dumps can stop it.

Not fretting, I'll believe it when I see (and shovel) it, just admitting that it dampened my excitement somewhat.

March is a weird word for a month.

Only marginally less odd that it comes from the name of the Roman god of war! Winter's over lads, get back to it

It's not like many of them make much sense. February is just a weird word altogether, while September, October, November and December are based on the Latin for seven, eight, nine and ten, respectively. All very plainspoken and orderly you might think. But they're months 9 through 12.

The numerical discrepancy is because the calendar ours is based on originally only had ten months in it so when they inserted two new ones it got all messed up. Why did they add them at beginning and mess up the count? They didn't! Originally New Year's Day was March 1st and January and February were at the end of the year.

Two weeks till my Montanaversary — on March 15, 2023, my wife and I got on a plane from Newark to Kalispell (via Salt Lake City). Can't believe it's been a whole year. We fucking love it so much here, too.
