Let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-workers

It sounds that bad to me! Kudos to you for saying something back because I would have been speechless.

I'm kind of surprised I did! But she does things like this all the time and I just couldn't take it anymore. When I got back to my desk and she apologized I told her it was completely inappropriate and that she needs to watch herself and think before talking to people like that because it's simply not OK. That's also when I was like oh what's it that you're waiting for from me again? Oh, right nothing. You're just insane. OK, I didn't actually say that last part.

had a similar experience w/ a v difficult coworker yesterday where he gave me a really superior tone and was dismissive & belittling toward me when in actuality he was just uninformed and literally RONG abt what he was talking abt.

i was speechless at the time and i didnt think that it bothered me but it p much stayed on my mind the whole day since then

unrelatedly, i accidentally gave myself prob the worst papercut ever via a manilla folder this morning that fukkin hurt so bad ugh ugh

I walked into her supervisors office and I was angrier than I can maybe ever remember being. I was like, "I'm about to smack M. right across her smug little face or just walk out and quit because she is way out of line and completely inappropriate in how she talks me." Then I calmed down and told her not to worry because since I've never hit anyone in my life I don't actually plan to start today. TBH I'm really glad I said something to both M. and her supervisor.

Today I was talked to (note: not "had a conversation") for 20 minutes because I had not stapled a group of sheets before putting them into a three ring duotang. Then, my trainer decided that she had to resign because I had told her that I "know everything," which I had not implied in the slightest. Un/fortunately for me, she did not resign. Yesterday she came into the bathroom mumbling "I am wasting my time training this stupid bitch" and told me she was allowed to talk, when I told her I was in one of the stalls. I tried to explain I just wanted her to know that she wasn't alone, but she kept mumbling about how she can talk if she wants to. We don't have an HR department & she has worked with the president for 25 years. Sigh.

No path I can really see, because the other woman I report to (another President's friend) hears & ignores it all. So I keep my head & tone level, try not to cry when I am told that I have to "be spoken to like a nine year old," and quietly investigate ways to complete projects without asking my trainer questions (email coworkers, find old examples.) Today I told her "if you resign you are doing that because you want to, not because I asked you to. I would like to continue to be trained on this job because I feel I will be able to do this really well in the future." I know I will never get in trouble because I am doing a great job, it's just taking me twice as long because this asshole sits across from me and repeats herself all day. One question = ten minutes of rambling, repetitive drivel that often contradicts and/or escalates in hostility if any follow up question is asked.

Most of these outbursts happen after the VP (brought in by the Pres a few years ago) dumps a project on my trainer's lap. I could psychoanalyse the shit out of this situation. I should write a book.

Would read, especially if you interspersed the analysis with makeup tips and pictures of your nails.

I hope that didn't come across as though I think that's all you would offer in a book. It would be a good book anyway! I just like your nails.

I'm always gobsmacked by how patently TERRIBLE, horrible human beings somehow end up in the good graces of some idiotic manager/VP somewhere and live to spend 20 years ruining coworkers lives without reprisal.
I know of two such people in my office. Thankfully I haven't crossed paths with either professionally but christ, the stories.

It's a definite dream move! When I was a lonely kid I found letting my bully "catch me" looking at her then looking away and smiling to myself drove her nuts. She came up to me a few times asking "what's so funny?" and seemed thrown off in general. May employ.

Oh yes, her pain. IIRC it was because the VP had dropped an assignment on her lap and we stopped listening/responding after about 30 minutes of bitching to us about how busy she was/how she didn't have time for it.

It kind of sounds like she's having a nervous breakdown, tbh. (Not that it would excuse anything if she was, and maybe I'm naive in thinking that people can't be so utterly horrible without some major cause.)

They totally can, unbelievably and depressingly.

I do think that might be the case. I often feel bad for her when she's just being stressed/sad and not overtly dickish.

it's really terrible working a job where you don't have the ability to make formal complaints. at my last place, the HR guy sat across from the CEO, who would demand to find out what employee was complaining so he could call them and ream them out for complaining about other personnel rather than doing their jobs. it was awful.

the snagger - When assigned a task to do she makes it seem like her completing the task is dependent on someone else doing some associated task first before she can continue, thus not doing the task and blaming someone else for it when really it was not necessary to make the tsk dpendent on that other person at all, they just didnt want to do the task.

President told all my coworkers not to contact me til he'd had a chance to call me (he appeared in the office at noon to explain the layoffs to those who remained employed,) but then never called me. A pox on them all. Many talked to me anyway. :)

Back at the end of January, my department (marketing) received an email from Exec. VP A, about an industry event that we're cosponsoring. She asked for help in promoting it, and said that she, our CEO, another VP, and Reg. Mgr. B would be attending.

Since part of my job involves our social media properties, I asked who could cover this event for us, and was told to reach out (ugh) to the attendees, so I contacted Reg. Mgr. B, who agreed to blog and tweet for us.

Yesterday, our CEO sends an email to Reg. Mgr. B telling her about the show and letting her know that lots of potential prospects will be there. Reg. Mgr. B replies, saying she's excited because she's going and will be covering for social media for marketing.

CEO contacts Exec. VP A and says, "Do you know anything about Reg. Mgr. B going to this show?" Exec. VP A - who originally gave me the list of attending people that included Reg. Mgr. B - says, "Nope, I don't know anything about it."

Now, the CEO is up my boss's ass (he's an SVP) asking, "Did someone in your department tell Reg. Mgr. B to attend this show? I need to be in the loop on these things."

Utter insanity. Luckily I save every email.

guy in my office talks and acts like a sports announcer. always slightly too loud, makes a point of reading unfunny things on twitter aloud, constantly peppers his speech with stuff like 'my buddy x does _______; really great guy'. uses the word bro without irony. is a jets fan.

today he was training this new employee on something fairly simple and it just went on and on and on. he may or may not be a bad person, but either way i want him to shut the fuck up.
