i guess the current fashion for MRA rhetoric has made it seem like a new legitimacy is being given to such men's sense of entitlement over their offspring? even if the only "legitimacy" is that of a vocal hardcore, who can make the link to the question of individual liberty because the state tends to not be on their side.

I think the MRA stuff is obviously a backlash to the world changing toward incrementally greater parity for women, which is where the world should keep right on going, but the death throes of each stage are so explosively violent and damaging.

By now, to a large extent advertisers don't have to spell out this stuff anymore because the advertising worked - we internalized the messages as truth. I think it's interesting to look at these ads as milestones on the path from the days before companies made up fears of odor in the "vaginal area" to sell products to today, when the message re: our filthy smelly snatches has been fully internalized and can be referenced with a picture of a woman in white pants smiling or just the word "freshness."

xp - I always thought of it as a like a "don't acknowledge the 4th wall" kinda thing with the 4th wall being the condom, as in you would not let the condom get in the way of stuff you'd normally do without it as a barrier, i dunno

do they sell non-applicator tampons in the US at all? i am one of those smug cup-using hippies, but back when i bought tampons on the regular p much all uk non-tampax options were applicator-free.

i had the hardest time finding non-app tampons when i moved here - in nz it's the opposite case. i think there is only like ONE brand of non-app here.

OB is strictly non-applicator now. I think there is at least one other brand that makes a non-app variant

Ob was always non app weren't they? Keep it simple and set yourself free from the extras that you really don't need. Just try OB and you'll see.
