i mean yeah i think belle & sebastian is a solid band too, but they're a much better headliner from an objective standpoint than some of the bands that were on the bill last year

i mean even if you don't think they are straight fire beautiful song you have to admit their place in the bookish fancypants UK indie canon

you know, i'm a mild feist fan i guess, but my wife loves her, anyway i got good tickets and took her as a surprise...and i have to say, feist was probably the artists that most exceeded my expectations as a live act....it was pretty rocking, and her band and arrangements were great, she played a lot of fingerstyle electric on a les paul jr that was cool.

this was a really nice small amphitheater though, she seems more suited to a venue like that

idk to me they feel like they're from a different era. nothing wrong w/that necessarily but it's like when there's a metalfest and the headliner is Testament I'm like, fuck yeah I rep for Testament but that's past-master stuff not Where It's At Now y'know? at any rate if anybody needs me I will be marshalling all forces to try to persuade or compel R to play U Saved Me from beginning to end as his entire set

has anyone ever done a "major headliners are only allowed to play the other headliners' songs" concert?

btw as far as gate numbers go I fucking guarantee you Feist does bigger U.S. business than B&S, B&S not even remotely on Feist's level in those terms

i think for PF demo that b&s is a bigger draw than feist but i of course that's just a hypothesis

time to test it

i assume that the headliner with the least drawing power gets put on friday (or is it sunday?), so i guess we'll see how the bands are slotted

FWIW, pretty sure Feist plays smaller theatres in Chicago than B&S does.

Though B&S tours a fractions as much, so it's hard to say if they sell out bigger places due to pent up demand or what.

Fwiw, the last two times Feist has played a theater in Chicago it has been at the 2,500 capacity Riveria. B&S's most recent appearance was at the 3,600 capacity Chicago Theater (they played the Riv in 2006).
