The two friends grew up to form both a deep personal and musical bond, a bond which formed the foundation of one of the most revered, intriguing, and groundbreaking bands of the early 80s. Beginning in 1979, in a whirlwind of five years The Minutemen released eleven records, ranging from 7" singles to the epic double-album Double Nickels on the Dime, an output totaling over 150 songs! They crisscrossed the country, opening for bands ranging from Black Flag to REM, as well as on their own headlining tours. Tragically, at the very peak of their creative force, The Minutemen were brought to a halt when D. Boon was killed in a van accident just three days before Christmas 1985. This amazing documentary tells the story of The Minutemen primarily through their own music and a ton of rare and smokin' live footage. People interviewed to shed insight or give props include Watt, drummer George Hurley, Watt's mom, Henry Rollins, Greg Ginn, Ian MacKaye, Thurston Moore, J. arrived, ate and beelined for my AirBnb on 49th and 8th

napped

went to McKenny's and got kinda drunk

realized my Decibel tour tickets weren't mobile like i thought and scrambled to find a FedEx Office

made it in time to miss Khemmis bit the band I was primarily there to see (Wolves in the Throne Room) put on a remarkable set. I left during Enslaved as my back was killing me and went home.

Saturday:

Hungover, went to Roast for brunch.

went to Madame Tussauds primarily to do The Void: Ghostbusters thing.

got a matinee ticlet for School of Rock...enjoyed it.

Went to The Band's Visit with Tony Shaloub. loved it.

Got a late ticket to John Mulaney's 10:30 show at Radio City. amazing.

today wemt to Bare Burger and Double Down and headed home now. exhausted.
