Pick any Maxwell song from Now or BLACKsummersnight and it's a more well-written overall song than anything D'Angelo has ever done.

And then, Maxwell has two other albums.

I'm just trying to level the playing field by saying: look what this guy has done and what D'Angelo hasn't.

Yes, in comparison to D'Angelo, even a slacking, tour twice a decade, release albums as sporadically while promising so much more, infuriating-yet-ultimately-rewarding musical personality like Maxwell is obviously better.

Though I'd argue that, even if D'Angeo had hypothetically released three or four albums over the last decade, Maxwell would still have the better catalogue.

Yeah, I get that critics really tried to turn that into a thing in the late 90's and Maxwell got shorter shrift out of the whole deal but it was unwarranted then and now the idea of fixating on it just seems ridiculous.
