Who knows guys.. maybe Sen Ensign (R) in Nevada will be caught shitting on the cross of Jesus in a preemptive drunk celebration on TV in the next few minutes... reversing his lead.

(ok, it's a long shot)

Somehow got Ava to bed. 8,000 gap with 95.3% precincts in. OMG!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:50 (seventeen years ago) link

haha well done mike.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

c'mon, c'mon! !

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:53 (seventeen years ago) link

I already opened my Cassic Lambic and am already drinking.

House is so far looking pretty solid for the Dems, and it would be a super crazy great bonus for the Dems if the Senate came along, which none of us were even expecting anyway not too long ago.

I'm not a huge fan of the Dems, but it looks like, in Andrew Sullivan's words, the "intervention" that are helping to vote in right now is likely to succeed, so at least to that, cheers.

(Prepare for some drunk posts later tonight if things get even better... )

NBC is calling the House for the Dems 231-204.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Harry Reid is talking down the Senate chances on Fox. Missori doesn't seem to be heading Democrat way...

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:57 (seventeen years ago) link

What's the maximum margin for an automatic recount? Allen's lead is now 13,000 but only three-fifths of a %-age point.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Hah, apparently the major cities in Missouri haven't reported yet, so I'm jumping the gun somewhat.

carson dial (carson dial), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:59 (seventeen years ago) link

most of the remaining votes are from Richmond, Newport News and Norfolk, so Webb has a shot at barely making up the difference, but either way this is going to a recount

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:00 (seventeen years ago) link

ABC schlub just mentioned "The Contract On America" heh

12,000 to make up with 103 precincts yet to declare.

What do we know of Olympia Snowe and is there any chance she'd cross the floor?

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:04 (seventeen years ago) link

so corker is teh winner in tennessee then?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:06 (seventeen years ago) link

TN: Corker 52-47 Ford with 76% results in. Oh well, "we" got the House.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:08 (seventeen years ago) link

I'd say that there's a chance Snowe flips, but I doubt it. She may follow the Lieberman route of staying with her party, but seeking a larger role as a centrist/independent power broker.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:08 (seventeen years ago) link

if Chris Shays wins, she's not going anywhere

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Frankly, I'm mortified, folks.

Menendez, Hevesi, Ted goddamm Kennedy. Dems are voting 'no war' and have NO PLAN WHATSOEVER after that. No one gives a shit that the people they're nominating are crooks and thieves.

I'm actually shaking with rage.

Way to go, America! Way to stick it to "Dubya!"

Juan Milius (Roger Fidelity), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Um, Howard Dean was just on CNN saying that Dems are still pretty much anti-troop withdrawal, even though 50% of the public support it in some form.

CNN projects Dems take the House

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:13 (seventeen years ago) link

my local ABC affiliate is scheduled to be showing a program entitled "Vote 2006." actually showing: circa '92 ep of America's Funniest Home Videos

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (seventeen years ago) link

i'd say the two are pretty ideologically consistent.

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Any chance that there's a cache of postal or provisional votes that are not included in the VA totals?

Webb just looked like he was going to concede but just mumbled something about "hang in there". 13,000 with 83 precincts left.

Time for bed. Good night, USers.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:14 (seventeen years ago) link

who replace roger with ed anger?

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Wow. Clay Shaw was defeated by 4 percentage points -- thet 25-yr vet goes down.

Tim Mahoney unseated Joe Negrone, Mark Foley's replacement.

30,000 absentee ballots uncounted in Fairfax County? I'm having 2000 flashbacks.

W i l l (common_person), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:34 (seventeen years ago) link

um, so i guess chasing lieberman out of the party wasn't such a good idea after all (not that I like him)

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:34 (seventeen years ago) link

we're still waiting on Richmond in VA. I think Webb's got it.

and why the hell isn't my own next congressman determined yet? come on, Kissel. come on county counters, you suck.

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:44 (seventeen years ago) link

"Lieberman is counted for the Democrats," sez NPR. Yeesh. Can we give Webb back?

Maffei falls just short in NY-25, and WY-AL tightens to even, but Wulsin coming back in OH-2, and Cranley leading slightly in OH-1

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Where are you guys getting your numbers on VA race? MSNBC seems behind you.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 04:47 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't want a Senate majority, which is bound to be thinnest, if those two assholes are the swing votes. Got the House though, h'mm.
