huh, mixed reviews? didn't know that. the NY one got a rave in the Times (3 stars). been open since last June.

I ate at Bellavitea last week and kinda wondered how Tipsy wound up liking it.

oops, just saw this. we liked it, straightforward as advertised. i just got the cacio e pepe, which was good and peppery, my wife had the roast chicken. we had good appetizers that i don't even remember. oh, i got the roast cauliflower thing. anyway, it was nice. good wine list too, at least from our limited sampling.

somewhat randomly ate at mole on allen st. last night (it was next to the subway stop, was the main deciding factor). not bad. i liked the vegetarian tacos, guac was decent. margaritas were pretty good and $7 instead of $10 or whatever.

tried to go to e village caracas on friday and it was O_O crowded. i wish i had realized there was one in williamsburg now!

sleep was just telling me about delmano but was hazy about the cocktail details. seems worth a try, though!

delmano is nice for a before-dinner drink. later on I imagine it gets too packed

they turn people away before it gets to crowded - i went there a bunch when a friend worked there - its cool tho those bartenders in vests places arent really my speed

cool I will wear a vest if it's crowded so they'll think I work there and let me in.

this is a good plan just wear a vest and if they try to stop u say o i work here hay would u like an award winning tequila fizz

ok arepas cafe was great. had the pabellon (trad. style arepa i guess) and the cazon (shark!!!11!1!) with a glass of chicha - ndsfnkdskfn delicious

had the place to ourselves too! i should eat dinner at 4:30 more often

There's another Arepas place in WB, less traditional than either Caracas or Arepas Cafe. Haven't been, it's on havemeyer. Went to Arepas Cafe on saturday and it was still great. He has this drink that is lemonade with brown sugar, pretty amazing. I had a basic pulled pork one and the BOMBA which is a Reina with cheese and avocado. Translation? A fucking overstuffed little chicken-salad sandwhich mixed with guac topped with a giant hunk of cheese and avocados. Raw avocodos make my mouth itch but it was worth it.

i just need a drink downtown, and i don't really go to manhattan for drinks so i need a tip. please

PS a glass of wine at the gramercy park hotel is $20

OK, the new ethiopian place in ft. greene (BATI) is good and not too pricy. i wouldn't go all the time or anything, but it's definitely a good addition.

had brunch at the general greene on sat, was very enjoyable, so we went back for dinner on friday--a little more hit or miss but still an overall pos experience

they do 'shared plates' which is cute but at some point i wanted to order red meat and ari doesnt eat it

that's exactly what i've heard about them -- the dinner isn't as on as the brunch (which i did think was delish)

really, really good apple pie + salty caramel ice cream desert--the waitress was all "apple pie made from apples from XXX orchard in ny, the crust is made with pork lard, from a pig that has only consumed those apples" and i was sort *rolls my eyes* but it was great

i feel weird judging restaurants in the first couple months tho, they usually take 6 mos or so to get up to full speed/deliciousness

they're doing a really good restaurant week lunch for $23/a pair

isnt that ridic tho--would expect it from fancypants restaurant ltd. but this is a neighborhood joint you dont have to oversell the damn apple pie

Liking Reginella Pizza on Atlantic. Run by actual Italians from Italy, and they sort of meet the American-style slice halfway. Excellent crust. Generally really good topping slices*

*A few times they had this hot-dog and french fry pizza though. It looked scary. But then last time I was there they didn't have it, and then this dude came in like "Where's the hot dog pizza?" So I guess they know what sells.

btw went to the new ramen place - its was a pretty rad good vibes style venue - good if not spectacular untraditional ramen - had a nice japanese wheat beer w/a rad owl on the bottle - place was full at 6pm on a saturday and its only been open 2 weeks - theyre going to do well
