after missing him the past two times he's come to london i'm finally going to see him on saturday with the bf

How was the London show? I didn't realise he was playing Glasgow as well tonight, fingers crossed it isn't sold out
― boxedjoy, Sunday, 13 January 2013 15:50 (eleven years ago) link
it was pretty great, sound could've been better though - vocals not loud enough! the "quickie"/"arch & point" encore was amazing.
― lex pretend, Sunday, 13 January 2013 18:41 (eleven years ago) link
He did Adorn like three different times, and it was nice to hear a crowd sing it all together, but not as nice as hearing his actual voice. It was very guitar-driven, even more than I was expecting based on an album full of guitars, but his band were pretty tight and fun. I did have to laugh though when, after singing about sex and drugs and taking his top off, he put his clothes back on and gave a speech about the horrors of genocide as an introduction to Candles In The Sun. Ultimate buzzkill.

― some dude, Tuesday, 15 January 2013 02:38 (eleven years ago) link
super-dope remix, that
"adorn" live - i think i FINALLY get it
still think calling it the best song is nuts, but i think i might love it properly at last

"Do You..." is a wonderful song, but it sounds really out of place and unwelcome on rap radio
― Evan R, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 04:20 (eleven years ago) link
Its rap and r'n'b radio, and it sounds fine
― curmudgeon, Tuesday, 22 January 2013 18:42 (eleven years ago) link
it sounds mildly out of place and very welcome imo
― the legend of bigger yansh (some dude), Tuesday, 22 January 2013 18:50 (eleven years ago) link
i started listening to this because of the year end songs poll
i can't stress how much i did not expect to hear a zombies cover on this album
really good, he's a great singer
― bert yansh (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 24 January 2013 23:13 (eleven years ago) link
*sigh* I guess I just have to root for Kaleidoscope Dream to win the albums poll now
― The Reverend, Thursday, 24 January 2013 23:15 (eleven years ago) link
let's hope
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 24 January 2013 23:18 (eleven years ago) link
i think i gave frank my no 1... i can't remember
yeah can't believe adorn placed lower in ilm than in p&j.
― danzig, Thursday, 24 January 2013 23:18 (eleven years ago) link
i suspect miguel will win the albums
― lex pretend, Thursday, 24 January 2013 23:20 (eleven years ago) link
haha no way unfortunately
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 14:44 (eleven years ago) link
who are the main contenders? ocean, yeah, but that's mostly the same voting bloc and miguel seems way more popular on ilm.
― lex pretend, Friday, 25 January 2013 14:49 (eleven years ago) link
there will be vote splitting between the album and the collected EPs
― 乒乓, Friday, 25 January 2013 15:38 (eleven years ago) link
nah frank ocean will beat miguel in albums, it's a lock
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 15:48 (eleven years ago) link
i kinda don't think Art Dealer Chic will siphon more than a couple votes away from KD? i dunno, seems like a small stubborn minority opinion.
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 15:49 (eleven years ago) link
i had miguel top 5 in albums and no frank fwiw - i think its a possibility
― tity boi historian (ciderpress), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:14 (eleven years ago) link
so did i but it seems like such an astronomical long shot, would be willing to be on this.
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:16 (eleven years ago) link
[spoilers] I voted for ADC and not kaleidoscope because 1. 2:19 adorn 2. ...ALL 3. you can kill me if 'kaleidoscope' misses the #1 by 49 points or less
― 乒乓, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:20 (eleven years ago) link
"...all" is on kaleidoscope dream. deluxe edition bonus track or something. so is "gravity"
― lex pretend, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:23 (eleven years ago) link
yeah I know but it feels out of place after 'candles in the sun'
― 乒乓, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:27 (eleven years ago) link
I'm being petty mad at miggy for not sequencing it right.
and if you rep for the deluxe edition that means you're also gonna have to rep for the adorn remix w/ wiz khalifa
imo "All" is a much better ending to the album than nu-"Candles". in my mind the album has 13 tracks.
i have the Target edition of the CD, which has "Gravity" and "All" but not the Wiz remix :)
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:28 (eleven years ago) link
Channel Orange crossed over much more than Kaleidoscope Dream, I'd think. I can imagine a lot of people who haven't heard KD (or any other r'n'b this year) putting CO in the lower half of their ballots.
― Frederik B, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:28 (eleven years ago) link
exactly
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:29 (eleven years ago) link

Kendrick might beat both of them.
― Matt DC, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:40 (eleven years ago) link
i could see Kendrick beating Frank Ocean. but def not Miguel.
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:42 (eleven years ago) link

Frank has a 0% chance of beating Miguel in albums
Kendrick is Miguel's main competition, Dawn is a dark horse contender. Other albums towards the top include Taylor, Swans, and Jessie
― O'Floyd rules! (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 25 January 2013 18:18 (eleven years ago) link
ha overestimating swans is really your thing huh
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 25 January 2013 18:24 (eleven years ago) link
Haha maybe
― O'Floyd rules! (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 25 January 2013 18:26 (eleven years ago) link
I've just held the assumption that Miguel is more popular around these parts than Frank (who seems a lot more divisive here and has just never gotten quite a few people on board) for a while
― The Reverend, Friday, 25 January 2013 18:39 (eleven years ago) link
not saying Miguel will necessarily beat Frank but it feels like there's a lot more enthusiasm for KD on ILM than CO. I could see it going either way.
― The Reverend, Friday, 25 January 2013 18:41 (eleven years ago) link
a lot of 'visible enthusiasm' on ILM has more to do with who chooses to post at length about what than what they're listening to. there are plenty of indie bands that don't attract active threads during the year and then dominate ILM's year-end threads.
― fonkytimez lemonade (some dude), Friday, 25 January 2013 18:46 (eleven years ago) link
Idk mane songs @ 40, 17, & 3 imply a heavier voter bias than 23 & 20 do
― O'Floyd rules! (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 25 January 2013 18:50 (eleven years ago) link
ok so who's taking my $5 bet on this.
