I made Mr Veg watch the Jaws episode. Stone silence the whole way through, barely a chuckle

Oh the pain, oh the disappointment. ;_;

A super H. Jon Benjamin Archer/Bob's Burgers crossover episode would probably implode the universe.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:07 (eleven years ago) link

that's actually what's happening, this season of Archer is having a Bob's Burgers crossover

autistic boy is surprisingly good at basketball (silby), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:08 (eleven years ago) link

I just saw that on the Archer thread. I may die.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:09 (eleven years ago) link

I hope it's like the episode of the Prisoner where they give him a mustache and then take it away again

autistic boy is surprisingly good at basketball (silby), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:11 (eleven years ago) link

ws Archer-universe Linda

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:13 (eleven years ago) link

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 January 2013 06:13 (eleven years ago) link

"Where is Harry Truman? Dead in the ground. Dead, dead, dead."

I could watch a series that was just escalating Linda/Louise scream-fights, I swear.

Gollum: "Hot, Ready and Smeagol!" (Phil D.), Wednesday, 9 January 2013 11:38 (eleven years ago) link

Just started watching this on Netflix, the week after I just saw my first few eps of "Happy Endings," and I see a couple of parallels, both in an obvious affection for the characters as well as an innocent willingness to just keep the jokes coming. The former point is important, I think, because so many sitcoms are set up mostly as a series of put-downs and insults.

Watching Dan Mintz talk is weird, because Tina is basically just Dan Mintz talking like he talks and it creates a strange dysphoria.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 15 January 2013 22:09 (eleven years ago) link

oh man I could watch an hour of that

I am endlessly fascinated with voicework, and how people talk irl and they sound just like the characters that I love it's like sorcery

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 15 January 2013 22:12 (eleven years ago) link

They should do an episode w/o the animation and just have the cast reading all the lines.

YES

Sunday's ep was hilarious btw. Those Armisen songs were cracking me up so bad...and stupid Hugo singing 'You're the Best Around' during the decathlon made me cry I was laughing so hard

Teddy singing along to the one song in this week's episode was the best thing ever.

Saw the taffy one last week (its way behind here on TV so I've just been grabbing random eps online). Lost it at the goonies-esque version of the end theme.

i should start writing erotic friend fiction

also you all saw the archer crossover, right? was kinda disappointed the kids didn't talk, but i guess they couldn't get everyone into the studio

maura, Monday, 21 January 2013 02:05 (eleven years ago) link

Crossover was as disconcerting as it was satisfying. Hopefully they'll be able to shoehorn the kids into a later episode.

And I will never, ever get tired of caking.

Tarfumes The Escape Goat, Monday, 21 January 2013 02:19 (eleven years ago) link

Schaal is in a future ep as a different character, so that miht have something to do with the decision to have the kids not talk.

Simon H., Monday, 21 January 2013 02:22 (eleven years ago) link

Have been watching these online and without realising it managed to see the latest ep that I think only aired last night/night before? With the school news reportage and the mysterious Mad Pooper. omg, so freaking funny. The end bit where Louise pushes the bitchy blonde chick towards... well.

New Kid Nip Slips!

cwkiii, Tuesday, 29 January 2013 21:46 (eleven years ago) link

The sad thing is that Tina was actually really good and competent at news reporting and yet the universe still conspired against her to make her fail.

Gollum: "Hot, Ready and Smeagol!" (Phil D.), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 17:16 (eleven years ago) link

The whole Bob/Little Bob scene in the bathroom was the perfect encapsulation of this show's talent for escalating insanity, though. And Teddy's story about applesauce.

Gollum: "Hot, Ready and Smeagol!" (Phil D.), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 17:16 (eleven years ago) link

I found myself compulsively talking to my kids using the voice of Linda the other day.

one month passes...

Looking for some 3 dimensional representative of Gene to complete the trio, but honestly the best ones are just photos of Eugene Mirman.

I've been obsessed with the idea of being Louise for Halloween. I'm sure 90% of everyone will have no idea who I am but GIANT PINK BUNNY EARS YOU GUYS

oh and the episode last weekend with TOPSY was so awesome

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 15:34 (eleven years ago) link

Teddy is quickly becoming my favorite character on this show. Between his thinking Bob's last name is "Burgers," and his whole deal in the Topsy episode. ("I've been down here so long. What's it like up there? Are people still the same, with their ways?")
