Most of NSW is gonna be 40+ with strong north westerlies. I dont envy anyone there. I have a friend who lives in the blue mountains, and my brother works in bushfire monitoring, so I'm worried all round.

Yeah the brekky news this mornign was saying something similar about... somewhere, coulda been the same area. Theres a new fire threat level "catastrophic", which I think basically means "if where you are has this threat level GTFO NOW"

Me and J were drivin round Toorlangi the other day as prev stated somewhere, and as we drove around Black Spur and Kinglake I could see all the previously charred trees and see how there was basically only the one road in and our for miles on end. One windy, narrow road buried in forest. All I could keep thinking was "if there was a fire now we'd die here, there is no fucking escape anywhere".

Didnt help that J kept saying "man if there was a fire now WE WOULD BE DEAD" like the mobid windup merchant he is.

i rode bowden spur road up to KL on cup day '11 - well, walked a good chunk of it, hello 15% gradients on dirt - and there was still a burned-out car shell out there!

...actually we saw a stripped shell of a car too! but not from the fires, looked like an abandoned one someone'd stripped for tires/parts.

11:42am: UPDATE. More than 100 fires are burning across NSW and the RFS says the forecasted weather conditions are playing out now. There will be no reprieve from the heat and the dry winds are increasing exactly as the bureau forecast.

More than 20 fires are out of control.
