i mean, for what it is
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 January 2013 21:47 (eleven years ago) link
hmm I guess I will listen to bangarang, but track above is really generic sounding to my ears, like burial, pearson sound or faltydl with preset drums and strings. it should play in the cool teen store at the mall, whatever that is
/baddayatwork
― Dominique, Thursday, 3 January 2013 21:51 (eleven years ago) link
and haha
ZOMBY ® @ZombyMusicNow dont ever mention burial and skrillex in same sentence again 16m
― Dominique, Thursday, 3 January 2013 21:56 (eleven years ago) link
Has Skrillex collaborated with Unicorn Kid yet? Should happen.
― Tim F, Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

this is a compliment right?
― lex pretend, Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:03 (eleven years ago) link
most people don't like youth, lex
― mh, Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:05 (eleven years ago) link
actually, mall music is something I have enjoyed -- but not really meant as a compliment. generic-ness being the key ingredient to make any music suitable for the mall
― Dominique, Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:07 (eleven years ago) link
sad 4 them
i don't think this track sounds like burial, there's something a bit new agey and ambient and '90s about it rather than ~night bus~ dark, but it is as boring as most burial

i read this as "it's catchier and has a bigger pop appeal than burial" which isn't good or bad
― bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:07 (eleven years ago) link
I don't really think that track is "catchy". it's maybe "lighter" than a burial or faltydl track. imo if it wasn't made by skrillex, it would never show up on ilx
― Dominique, Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:11 (eleven years ago) link
"leaving" off this is pretty sweet
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 3 January 2013 22:13 (eleven years ago) link
It's less of a copy of burial than faltydl (initially) already was, and way less of a copy than that one track on the Royal-T album. On and then like old Pariah tracks and etc. etc. etc. If copying Burial is a crime then Skrillex is gonna be on death row a long time.

One of the other tracks has a kind of watery Robert Miles vibe to it as well.

― Tim F, Monday, 28 January 2013 06:55 (eleven years ago) link
it's a pretty decent song but like "fuckin problems" is just asap grafted onto an already existing track... i guess there's virtue in that to some ppl but idk
― d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Monday, 28 January 2013 07:07 (eleven years ago) link
I don't like it for ASAP per se. But it makes me imagine many other Skrillex rap tunes.

haaaa. I realized at some point the reason I love "Bangarang" is cause it sounds like if Basement Jaxx made brostep.

"Bangarang" is awesome cause it works in the same jam-packed maximalist way as Basement Jaxx.― hemioblock (The Reverend), Thursday, January 3, 2013 1:47 PM Bookmark

First track is apparantly just edited stuff from his dj-tools. And yeah, I skip it. Second track also has Passion Pit on it. Which is a pretty smart guest, in that he is also a maximalist.
