"The Bad Touch" for the New Order bassline.
― Eazy, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 22:24 (fifteen years ago) link
The song is presented as a series of letters to the porn star Chasey Lain from a fan, requesting that he be allowed to perform anilingus on Lain. Over the course of the story, the fan is revealed to be obsessive, and the lyrics get progressively angrier, in mockery of the stance taken by the overzealous fan archetype once the affection is perceived as being ignored. With its escalating format, it is similar to Eminem's 2000 release, "Stan," (although, predating it, is certainly not a direct parody).

You know what's funny, is that the line about the Discovery Channel on "The Bad Touch" also predates "The Real Slim Shady". Coincidences?

The music video shows Bam Margera, a friend of the band, driving down a Pennsylvania highway in the Banana car (which was seen on the MTV Cribs episode in which the band appeared). While he is driving, he sees some girls performing sexually suggestive activities in wet bikinis, poking fun at Benny Benassi's controversial "Satisfaction" video, while the band performs in a tunnel. When Margera drives the banana-mobile up to the tunnel (whose entrance is topped by a wild grapevine growing in the shape of trimmed female pubic hair), he proceeds to gaze, enthralled at it, then drives through it, thus making the biggest of all the innuendos. The video ends with Bam thrusting a banana to a man in a Speedo whom consumes it in a manner that mimics fellatio. The tunnel used in this video is the abandoned Rays Hill Tunnel, a part of the Pennsylvania Turnpike until it was bypassed in 1968.

Between Mama Say, Mope, and Great White Dope for me. Will require concentrated relistening before I finally decide on Mope after all. Lot of good stuff hiding on the second album, too.
Nope, there’s a full 12” version of the PSB mix though. While they were working on it, Jimmy Pop told Neil Tennant about the GLAAD campaign against the Bad Touch video [predicated on a contention that the French dudes in striped shirts, neckerchiefs and berets sitting at an outdoor cafe were a hateful gay stereotype]; Tennant’s response was “Those faggots need to get a sense of humour.”
