Haha, first dude really IS good, others not really. I looked at some more of the first dude's youtube and read the comments -"you shouldn't just play covers, play your OWN stuff" - and then finally clicked on his myspace page only to realize I had seen him around town and have a record he plays on.

After about 3 years of noodling around with classical guitar lessons and 3 months of noodling around with piano lessons, I bought an entry-level bass guitar and instruction book today. Totally excited about it. So I started reading the book and messing around on the bass and I thought, "Hey, maybe I can do this eventually (albeit poorly)," since I sort of understand the bass-clef from the piano lessons.

Then I watched the first video posted on this thread. Now I think it'll take me . . . oh, 10 years to be even a 6th-rate hack at bass.
