I never really knew the lyrics to that song beyond "nyeaarrrgggh, nyeeooorrgggghhh, we've bin dancin wit Mr Brownstooooooaaaaawwwwnnnn...." so I never knew it really had lyrics.

Best fucking GNR song EVER, though. I used to put it on endless repeat to annoy the fuck out of my indie than thou neighbours. Oh, that wah-wah. Fucking amazing guitar work on that song.

Sorry. I just assumed that everyone had heard it approximately 952,599 times like I had.

seven years pass...

Heard this about two hours ago over the radio at the gas station, then forgot all the lyrics by the time I got home. It was a female-fronted rockabilly or rock and roll or country or something, probably from the 50s or 60s. The lyrics were addressed at a young guy about how true love and sweet talking and being romantic won't work for him anymore.

Also, still wondering about this one:

kingkongvsgodzilla wrote this on thread Can you help me find the name of the song on board I Love Music on May 2, 2008

Motherfucking fuck. I heard a song in CVS this morning and have the last line of the chorus stuck in my head on repeat. It's kinda a folky or countryish adult contemporary song with female vocals. Probably from this last decade or so.

The last line is something like "you'll miss me/and I'll be missin' you". I diligently google searched this and couldn't come up with any good hits so it might not even be the exact phrase.

I'll probably have to go spend my lunch hour there to try and hear it again - pretend to be real interested in nasal sprays and such...

The only female rockabilly I know is Wanda Jackson but I don't know words to anything aside from "Funnel of Love"

Hmmm. Stab in the dark. Aretha's 'Rough Lover'. It isn't rockabilly/country but it's fit's lyrically and the era.

Lol, that's great. No, the lyrics I remember were definitely directed at at the young guy and the singer was telling him all that all of the typical, earnest romantic strategies - I can't remember any specifics here, but maybe holding hands, longing glances, moonlight walks - that he may have thought about employing with her were not going to be enough. Like, he's some kind of earnest boy scout character and she's more of a woman of the world, was the tone.

> lol! Yeah, I guess location isn't an important part of my question.

you could ask at the gas station which radio station they usually listen to and then check the playlists for sunday before 2pm.
i already did searched for the hanover MD area @ http://radio-locator.com/ , but that was a shot in the dark...

Oh meisenfek, you rock! I will have to check that out. I'm actually in Edgewater, not Hanover (did you see my post about the Arundel Mills mall though?).

eleven months pass...

okay this has been annoying me for a couple of weeks now

someone started a thread on ILM about this song

it was heavily psychedelic, prob references to pot and stuff

it had about 8 verses and kept coming back to the same chorus type thing

it was proper wordy and the lyrics were actually quite good

pretty sure it was def 60s / 70s

there was a thread all about it

someone said they'd had it on repeat for hours

scott seward would have known about it or liked it

there was a youtube at the top of the thread

this song was really really really really good someone must remember it!

Crackle Box, Wednesday, 1 June 2011 15:23 (twelve years ago) link

pretty sure thread was started sometime within the last couple of years

google and ilxor search has been :-( so far

help me find this song

Crackle Box, Friday, 3 June 2011 15:02 (twelve years ago) link

for some reason in my head it sounds like aprhodite's child the four horsemen slowed down

the thing about this song was that it was really long and it just kept going on and on, relentlessly, lyrics didn't really repeat themselves apart from a small chorus or refrain type thing

Crackle Box, Friday, 3 June 2011 15:04 (twelve years ago) link

sounds aight, but no idea.

i have a feeling the thread title might have been something along the lines of "i've had this song on for hours and it rules!" or something, but there are a lot of threads like that, and this one def had the youtube embed as the first post.

gah this is actually really annoying me, can't think of any other way to find it

one month passes...

This might be a stretch but I have faith. So a song popped into my head yesterday morning, hadn't heard it in an age but fairly familiar with it. Must be at least 20 years old, Walker Brothers kind of vibe I thought. Unfortunately I then forgot all about it, and now all I have left is a half remembered snatch of lyrics that may have been wrong in the first place:

when (something happens) (night falls?) I (we? they?) will send up a yellow (paper?) moon (balloon)?

ledge, Monday, 4 July 2011 13:13 (twelve years ago) link

It's not Yellow Balloon by Yellow Balloon is it?

Didn't think so.

Song from the last year or two that samples Arvo Part's "Fratres." Sample-based with pretty noise.

Probably hipsterish dance track from the 2010s featuring what I remember as one of Bruce Willis's daughters (Rumer/Scout/Tallulah) on vocals, but could have been a different Hollywood scion. Lyrics included something about hair looking like a lion's mane.

Whoever it was on vocals, she wasn't really singing iirc. It was more of a monotone recitation.

Punk, metal, or hard rock song from 80s/90s. The only part that's stuck in my head is a guy yelling "hang loose! hang loose!" Possibly from the genre of "rock parodying rap" but not certain.

peace, man, Thursday, 25 March 2021 18:10 (three years ago) link

Sorry, just gonna bump this once to see if anyone sees it.

peace, man, Monday, 29 March 2021 16:30 (three years ago) link

A song from the late 90s, or early 00s, female singer, fetishizing "farm boys", could be called "Farmer" or something similar. All my google searches keep telling me I'm thinking of "Informer" by Snow. It is not that song.

"In-Farmer"

Halfway there but for you, Tuesday, 30 March 2021 14:18 (three years ago) link

xps to self: I'm wondering if this was not some third wave ska act that never got its lyrics on the internet, or maybe a Sublime bootleg or something. Or maybe some legit funk-metal like 24-7 Spyz (also next to nothing on the net about them - what the fuck?).

roots reggae track, beautiful vocals singing a chorus that i think starts on a 16th note pickup, just: ai ya ya , ai ya ya, ai ya ya ya ... then repeats. it is NOT the monkey man song, that's the thing

hi dere

trying to find the song played at the end of "Fat Ham" at the public theatre.

Disco (vintage) or disco pastiche (I think it's from the original era); very Ballroom.

The only lyric I can remember is "show me (all) the way(s) that you feel"

Female singer; uptempo with big belt. I'm totally lost here

^playbill is not helping

very long shot, but there’s Maxwell’s “All The Ways Love Can Feel” - maybe someone made a discofied cover of it?
